I saw the pbe changes. Are you trying to kill taliyah?

Threaded Volley (Q)

Mana cost lowered from 60/70/80/90/100 to 50/60/70/80/90

Worked ground duration lowered from 120 seconds to 45 seconds

Cooldown lowered from 11/9/7/5/3 to 7/6/5/4/3

Effect now notes "subsequent hits on the same enemy deal 50% reduced damage"

OK riot, so you are planning to remove taliyah from jungle, fine. However you are basically killing taliyah mid at the same time. 50% reduced damage to enemies include MINIONS, that means you require 2 "new" Qs to deal the same damage to a wave instead of 1 "old" Q, WHICH MEANS IT REQUIRES MORE TIME TO PUSH AND THAT THE LOWER MANA COST DOESNT MATTER BECAUSE YOU STILL END UP USING MORE MANA TO PUSH.

Now some may suggest buying tear, use all the mana runes, and go for late game. The problem with that is that taliyah is not a good scaling champion and relies on roaming, early game pressure and snowballing the team which she has already struggled to do since the TWT nerfs and will struggle even more if the pbe nerfs go live.

Fun fact: at level 12, with item 3285 item 3916 item 1056 + Blue buff, all the AP you can get from the new runes, and extra damage from dematerializer, a full 5-rock Q can't kill a melee creep. If you want any kind of wave clear, you either have to E+W, or use multiple Qs spread out over as much of a wave as possible.

They literally could have just tacked on "-60% damage to monsters" or something. I just don't understand why they gut cool champions with counterplay like Taliyah.

Complicated answer: No, here's what we're actually trying to do... Simple answer: Yes.

Taliyah would become a support pick, whose only job is to EW the enemy laner, shoot icy rocks to slow the enemy (rush Rylai's), and wall the dragon pit or help jungler gank.

Personally I think Taliyah has a great kit and would be a pity to see her overnerfed. She's fairly skill-based and has some good counterplay patterns. I've also got no problem with her jungling, it's a nice change to the usual Graves, Lee, Xin jungle.

Why don't they even leave her Q alone and just increase damage but reduce monster & minion damage by 30% on her W or E? It will still slow down her clears in the jungle while giving a little buff to lane Taliyah.

They are just trying to keep Taliyah in check, what with the rest of the preseason changes, until they can properly change her kit so it isn't a nightmare to balance.
