You have to be more specific, there are three Ranked queues.
Fuck ranked! If I'm babysitting, someone can goddam pay me. I'm not putting all this extra thought into a game when nobody else is. I'm not going to think of reactive builds! I'm not going to push my hardest in an unfavourable lane! All when the rest of these fuckers just get to go have a garbage attitude! I don't give a damn if they're banned, you semantics peddlers!! They already ruined the game! I already spent the time and the damage is done and I lost! I'm statistically almost guaranteed not to encounter them next game as is, and them being banned is largely irrelevant to the next asshole doing it! Or, I don't know, SMUUUUUUUUUURFFFFFS!!!!
No, I'd rather play an already-trashy game mode so that the attitude is practically half the joke! I'd rather play the RGMs where everyone's trying new things! Fuck the League meta and fuck the game it has created out of SR! I'd rather just run mathematics and calculate the winner. I'd rather play with a... shit, man, I don't know! A Rubik's Cube controller! WHO KNOWS WHERE THE BUTTONS ARE FIND THEM LOSER
I tried it. I tried it once! I tried it for one season and it was atrocious. Barring the fact that I do not enjoy the SR gameplay progression and patterns, there's just no fix-- and 'carry hard enough' is well enough for those who have the time or patience. League is far from the only game I play, and if I'm going to dump ten hours of my life at a whimsy, I'll open up something that doesn't have a fair chance of punishing me for it because I usually like to get dated BEFORE I GET WHIPPED!
I can't stand it, never have been able to. It's just this selfish, self-absorbed, self-indulgent gameplay and thinking, it's everywhere in League. Nobody wants to do things for the team; nobody wants to sacrifice a build slot, or a pick, or a summoner spell, or masteries, or anything. It's just, "I READ THIS ON MOBAFIRE LEWLLL KAPPA KAPPA SALTY SO MAD GIT GUD" and they throw when they go behind and they treat the team like shit when they go ahead. Fuckin' forget it, man! Why the hell should I put up with attitude if I ain't getting money? Customers are bad enough! All for a silly banner and the 'opportunity' to 'play at higher ranks?!' Fantastic. Fantastic! I need to beat out all the snubbies in order to play with people who-- regardless of their skill, r e g a r d l e s s of their skill!-- have a winning attitude about the game! I don't even care if we win. I genuinely don't care, I'm fine with losing if the game was rewarding. But it almost never is. Mute your whole team. Mute pings. Hand-pick every built item. Adjust your map presence according to enemy strengths and ally weaknesses. Ensure you have vision on critical spots and try to push vision afield to gain allies an advantage in the jungle and to be aware of roundabout travel by your enemies. Ping map situation updates to keep the team regularly apprised of what is going on.
Trust me, I have no illusions. I'd end up somewhere in silver. But the attitude has nothing to do with rank, and there are signs of it being all over.
All for a banner and, oh, right, being able to say dumb shit about balance and then rankshame people because crafting an actual argument is for losers. It's just such a fight.
I commend you who get up there to the likes of Gold and above, I think it must be more challenge than people admit. I've just never, ever found it worth my time.
Perhaps when runes revert to their baby forms and the world is new again, I'll try out Ranked. I feel like I'd be top/jg/support, because I pretty much suck at carries.
And yes. I am salty as hell. Just like Gangplank, reborn from salt and whine. (Daily reminder that GP needs a voiceover rework, Mercer talent is wasted on him atm)
