[OPINION] Aatrox is Ruined

Feel free to disagree with anything in the following paragraphs. I'm open to discussion! Also, if this is going to sway your thoughts on my opinions/complaints, I'm Gold 5. Not that it matters. I mean, a person that's terrible at cooking still has taste buds, so me being not 'high elo' is mostly irrelevant.

Old Aatrox is awesome. I'm pretty sure any Aatrox main will agree with me. But, hearing that one of my (our?) favorite champions is going to be reworked is definitely exciting. Fast forward, and the abilities are out. And my first thoughts? Aatrox is ruined.

Why? Here's my list:

  1. Combat master puts sword away in the middle of an active battlefield
  2. Riven Q! Except the first 2 uses are abilities on other champions!
  3. Can no longer 1v2 pre-6 because he has no attack speed steroids now. This 1v2 ability was why he was so unique
  4. They removed that cool "damage or healing" theme on his W and Kayn's forms (which btw I thought was really cool)
  5. His revive animation is very awkward. The animation is slower than the movement speed, most of the time. Also, the revive is extremely underwhelming.
  6. Q animations show Aatrox taking time to lift his sword up to make the swipe, but his E allows him a sudden lunge while holding the sword. His sword also visibly drags behind him while his P isn't active, similar to Tryndamere

Those are my main complaints. Sorry if I sound like a whiny bastard, but this is how I feel. Again, feel free to disagree or give me reasons why the new Aatrox is better than the old one. I would excitedly accept anything to change my opinion to a positive one, because this really made me sad.

(I'm still excited to play new Aatrox... but just... meh)

Old Aatrox was hot garbage.

New Aatrox looks fun.

After watching the trailer, I honestly thought he would have a cleave on his autos, at least after he ults, but nope.

The instant you compared Aatrox and Riven you lost all credibility in my eyes.

EDIT: You do bring up some good points but I hate that comparison. I'm sure when he goes live everyone will love him.

Yeah people do lose a lot (if not all) credibility when they claim Aatrox is just another Riven. They play nothing alike. Riven is far more mobile and has a lot more freedom to her kit. Just the feel of playing the champions are different. Aatrox actually has is own unique style of fighting that has its own learning curve.

Old Aatrox was an absolute top quality champ. i am pretty noobish when it comes to LoL but playing as Aatrox gave me some confidence in my abilities in the game. IF you could manage to get your play with him right, you could have literally WALKED through the enemies top lane. i still main Aatrox to thias day and while im not too happy with the rework, im glad it gives me a learning opportunity.
