What role is best for Shen?

I'm not very interested about Shen support I know that it is good right now though. I'm thinking more along the lines of Top/Jungle because I'm not sure if he is very viable in jungle and I just wanted some opinions on it because if is he isn't good in the Jungle I will just play him Top but like I said I just wanted to hear others thoughts. Thank you in advance :)

he's best in top lane, he can do good on support if you can launched some surprise combo that the tema may win the teamfight flash > taunt > when your team going to fight them, > ult your adc or your less health teammates

He's pretty much top only. I don't think JG is viable on him after his mini rework a few years ago.

Jungle is viable on him, you just have to be wary if they have a strong early game jgl who can invade and bully you. Even then, he has the utility to deal with it. Built in shield, ability to block aa's, on hit % damage. If they invade on you and you get your sword to pull through them, you'll prob win the trade. You can easily last long enough for one of your lanes to come help.

His clear speed isnt completely terrible. Just went custom and solo cleared to lv 3 (red/wolves/blue) in 2:48, ending with ~70-75% hp, starting Machete/3pots. Prob closer to 2:40 with an actual leash. I also used all 3 pots to get to that ending hp total. Between his passive shield and his W, you stay pretty healthy. You'd prob only have to use 2, or possibly go refillable with an actual leash. His Q going through jgl monsters does trigger the bonus damage and attack speed, and even does extra bonus damage to jgl monsters.

His lv 2 ganks are decent since he has a gap closing taunt (I'd go W 2nd if you're expecting to farm to 3). His ganks in general are strong, and easily burn flashes.

Chilling Smite makes his taunt laughably easy to land.

His ult is strongest from the jgl as he gives up no lane pressure to do so.

He's def viable, just far away from meta. Generally played top lane as he has no problem playing safe and farming, and brings more pressure due to his ult. He's also just hard to tower dive with W and E.

I watch shenforcer who mainly plays him jungle, he says it’s easier to carry with, but to be honest he is kind of hard stuck low diamond so even though he is better than me he could be wrong about some things. So should I play him too and like queue up as jg secondary?

Shen's problem is that he's hard to hard carry with. If you get fed early, then you can be a mid game mini raid boss, but it doesnt scale. Your main job should be to enable your team to carry. Protect your adc, engage with taunt, basically do the work that is needed so your dps can win the fights.

Shenforcer is a really good Shen, but is not a perfect player. You can see this just watching him cs. He even admits that he's awful at cs'ing. So he often loses a lot of gold during laning phase missing cs he shouldnt. That shows that his game probably has room for improvement in other areas. He's fantastic to learn from (I've learned a lot about Shen from him), but is not the pinnacle of Shen perfection.

I dont think Shen is the perfect jgl, I just feel that he can do well from there if played. Jgl is also not an easy position to play, but if you are already playing Shen top, then you are at least very comfortable with map awareness, which makes the transition to jgl go more smoothly. I would probably pick up someone like Xin Zhao if I were to play jgl secondary.

But as I said, I do feel like his ult is at it's strongest from the jgl since you arent giving up any pressure in lane. You can do well from the jgl, and def have some success.
