Help with Varus (as an adc, not as a mid laner) :(

Hey guys, I want to ask some questions about Varus.

I looked at http://champion.gg/champion/Varus/ADC and it says I have to rush an Essence Reaver, but personally I don't like that item.

Also, when I played Varus for the first time in SR, I rushed the Essence Reaver, but I got brutally reckted by a Caitlyn that rushed an IE.

So I decided I would not rush an Essence Reaver again, and rushed an IE.

The problem? Mana problems.

I could not poke, because I was consuming a lot of mana with his Q charged, even in late game I was like that.

I though of building a Tear, but I'm not sure if Manamune is good with him.

So, may I ask you... What is the building path with Varus? And how I am suppose to deal with adc's (specially the aggressive ones) that rush an Infinity Edge when I have my Essence Reaver (in case I should buy that first)??

And how I'm suppose to play him? He's a poke champ, but ... mana problems attack >w<

PD: I bought Infinity first ---> Boots ---> BT ---> Last Whisper ----> Essence Reaver (because mana...) ---> I wanted to buy Runaan's as second or third item but shit happened... :(

Varus I do item 3031 item 3085 item 3087 item 3072 or item 3139 item 3006 item 3036 Dont spam your q tho get 3 stacks than BOOM easy dmg or go hybrid varus x) its fun too

he is the rweakest adc in the game and has nothign going for him since they nerfed lethelity and nerfed fervor

Tear was the old build on him. Then Essence Reaver came. It's still the best first item for him. Cait is just a bad matchup for Varus.

I tried up Statik :D
But sadly, I was against a Draven... and... well... ... ... ^^U

Varus is so frustrating when he gets behind. And didn't help that enemy team was diving me every time if I wasn't under turret. ;__; I could just Q and E to wave clear. u___u mother of feeds I did...

Also, I trIed up Ap Varus (mid). So slow in his AA, but I liked him late game because I could spam my Q and E better.

But he's so strange as a champion. He's interesting, fun, but strange. ;__;

The Varus life isn't easy ;__; xDD

I've got a few botlane builds that I've made that had positive success rates.

There's his meta crit build: item 3508 item 3087 / item 3046 item 3031 item 3036 / item 3033 item 3072 / item 3139 item 3006

There's his hybrid build: item 3153 item 3085 item 3124 item 3071 item 3146 item 3006

There's his AP build: item 3115 item 3146 item 3135 item 3089 item 3020 / item 3006

Each have their own strengths and weaknesses. They all do require a kill lane support because Varus needs to get fed or he's dead in the ditch. With the incoming fervour buffs and Varus' passive buff, his on-hit and auto builds will be significantly stronger, putting his place as ADC up a couple of tiers.
