Is league getting tiring for anyone else?

Me and my friend were talking about how we used to have fun in league because in lower levels you can play almost any champion and win. Getting to higher levels you see the same champions played every game and if you don't pick them then chances are, you're going to lose the game. I know you can just go to normals and play whoever I want there but I STILL see vayne, ashe, jinx, any of the juggernauts or whoever is in "meta" right now. Riot knows that there are champions that rule the rift every season and some people think that it's required to have a meta but I for one believe that I should be able to pick kha'zix and have the same chance to beat a yi. And they leave all the champs that arnt doing well in the dirt and normally nerf the powerful ones which leads to champs that have been untouched even better which means that they need a nerf etc etc. Riot has nerfed so many people that all the old champions feel op now when what they need to do is have a large scale balance in between this season and the next.

Unless you are high challenger then you can pick anything you want lmao

You still can play a large variety of champions, even in low-mid ranked (I'm Silver, and I've had good results with Anivia, Vel'Koz, Varus, Tahm Kench and Bard -- none are exactly "meta" in their role).

But chances are you'd have better with darius garen vayne etc. I'm saying that its not fair how vayne gets to stay where shes at and quinn is put to shame by her endlessly and Riot doesnt want to fix it

Way I see it their balancing act doesn't have a big enough scope. They only look at what needs changes immediately and not what could use small tweaks here and there to make them work. If they bothered to look at all champions and not just the ones that fit the meta, it'd be easier on them in the long run. I understand they're trying, they really are, but they leave a lot of champs in the dust, and those end up being hidden op or straight useless as time goes on.

I think that's a good way of putting it. Though it's the reason I stay with viable but not meta picks, honestly. What are the chances Riot's going to change Vel'Koz or TK or Bard when there's Thresh, or Juggernauts, or Ahri? There's security for your main champions if they're obscure enough.

That is all a matter of opinion. You could say you would be better off with Darius, Garen, and Vayne, but they all have their own counters and such. Quinn can easily beat a Vayne if she is good. A Tahm Kench or Kennen can beat both Darius and Garen.

Can't you just STFU? You probably play a "OP" champion. Wouldn't surprise me if you played Zed, or someone.

I asked specifically two days ago to everyone here on the forums, "what champion do you play" and people started listing off champions that could be looked at as OP, especially scary when fed, but then again, aren't they all?

Tell me a champion that isn't got one thing OP about them, and tell me who do you play so I can laugh.

I play Ekko, and I bet he takes more skill than any of the champions you play, and he's a champion where you can avoid all his skills if you're good. That includes his Q(easy to avoid, does shit damage on first hit anyways, it's the second hit you should truly avoid, and that sets his E up to proc his passive on hit with E if the 2nd part of the Q hits coming back). You can avoid his E if out of range, most mid champions can play the range game on him, got more defensive power than him. Can avoid his ult completely, even if it is a JG Ekko ganking.

But because I'm so good at this game, I could play Ekko, and just about beat anyone who plays me in lane, at least his kit is loaded with goodies, but it takes work to use them.

I play Azir, and Heimerdinger, again both of those take skill, Azir probably takes the most skill in the game. People say Heimerdinger don't but I argue that he does because it's more than just standing behind your turrets. I move around, and out from them if I need to, and that E stun is hard to hit unless you charge him, he will drop it on you when you get into all the turrets and win you.

Wow, you play Ekko.

Bastard Chief1 votes

lmao and who do you play again?

Rumble.

but TK is a really meta pick atm

Kitten of Evil1 votes

Really? I actually see Bard more often than him in ranked games...and of course Thresh.

Kind of, but then Riot revealed a new champion. However, I feel I might have to take a break from League, maybe another half a year like I did mid way S3 so the game can become "fresh" again if that makes sense.

SecretAgentHulk2 votes

Yeah, a good few-month break (three months was good for me) gave me time to catch my breath, as it were, and then when I came back I was able to appreciate all the things I had been enjoying before, but had come to take for granted.

Healz Please3 votes

I take breaks every once and a while, so... Meh. If I start to get bored I play other things. It's a game, so there's really no need to stick around if you are not feeling it.

Unfortunately METAS are created by players. By players who use exceel spread sheets and check what's best to win. Riot just started to control META by shifting powers in items (like cinderhulk/devourer)...

We cannot remove METAS.. It's just impossible. removing/nerfing strongest item/champion will just put second strongest on pedestal. And so forth until cycle repeats.. Only choice you have is play new games where METAS are yet to be made and then change games once META crystalises.. Best way to see when META is estabilished is when pro players become well known, as they are META shapers. As long as there are no pro players, game has no META yet.

There's no way around it sadly

Ashe is common? Lol! Jinx played 27% of games, Vayne played 35%, Caitlyn played 16%, Tristana played 25%, Lucian 15%. Ashe may have been super common when she was updated, but after the nerf to her stacks, it's been difficult to manage the brutality of the other ADCs. 10% is a fairly small number when compared. And Quinn is about to "adjusted" like MF was supposed to be.

I played vayne with claiyvoyance and shaco top with Teleport earlier.

No issues here.

yeah broken as shit easy to play braindead champs have existed since ahri came out and everything after that.

Not much you can do about it at this point.

Just play what you enjoy in normals and abuse broken as shit champs in ranked to climb elo.

I've started cutting back on League. Granted, I still probably play more than the majority of players, but I used to play 5+ games of League a day. Now, it's one or two. There's a mix of reasons (Getting more serious about school and personal projects, reading more, curious about other video games, etc.) Another reason is the current meta. I don't mind the meta being the way it is, but it's fairly frustrating in bot lane right now IMO. With top, and now mid, taking teleport more often now, it's far it's more risky to engage in bot lane. 2v2 quickly becames 3v5 or 2v4. Often the best play is to just farm and wait until you have a teleport/jungler advantage. This passive play has been grinding on me. The preseason is just around the corner though, so I'm not to worried about it.

If you realizing you loose your motivation: Take a break! :) If you like the game, you will come back. I play since early S2 and I love this game, still i dont play for months sometimes, maybe I found another Game, maybe I just dont want to play.

Jacknife1 votes

I hear ya, the recent changes have been super tough for me. All the top laners I love to play are near perma-banned or were pushed to another lane (the only one I can play without fear is Olaf ) and all my ADC's were changed or lost power along the way (Varus is my only solid pick now, I can't play Tristana well anymore since they nerfed her starting AA range, and Twitch is outclassed by literally everything). The meta should be a good fit for me this time, but it's turning into one of the worst...

Bhagswag1 votes

Yes. I don't know man, i'm afraid to play normals and waste 20 minutes. Because I'm bad.

Punkkee1 votes

that's why league was fun? because you could play alot of nonmeta picks? i wish i was you

Since the juggernaut patch I lost a lot of interest in league. I really wanted diamond before the end of the season but the juggernaut patch just really made me not care at all about solo Que anymore. I still want to get diamond but I'm going to do it with a ranked team in 3s so its at least fun and at a higher skill level.

The worst part is its not even pre season so things are only going to get much worse in the coming months. Luckily there are a lot of decent games coming out soon that look like they could be pretty good. Fallout 4, overwatch, halo 5, so those look pretty interesting. I will still be playing league but riot really needs to figure out how to prevent patches like this juggernaut patch. I'm semi fine with 1-3 champions being broken but when I was already perma banning devour junglers and then they bring in juggernauts its just so super anti fun. On top of my main Fiora getting banned in like 90% of every single game so 70% of the reason I even play isn't an option most games. I used to have faith in Riot to make good balance choices but when they release 5-6 broken champion reworks over a month it's really hard to keep putting faith that the game will be in a fun state to play.

But on a lighter note you can play what ever champion you want in most roles. I have friends that do really crazy stuff and most of the time I will support their picks unless they pick something that doesn't win for like 3-5 straight games then clearly you need to move on to something thats viable lol. But you can play pretty much what ever you want. I played Fiora support and my friend played Bard adc and we won that game. There was even a Riot employee playing with us that game :P Play what ever you want, just not in ranked lol

#TL;DR Devour junglers + Juggernauts + pre-season coming up soon = not fun at all You can pick what ever you want and have fun though!

ihaveapotion1 votes

Yep but not for your reasons, riot has really fucked up with their oversimplifying the game, theres less personal input everyday with all the set roles, lane restrictments by abillity, forced roles and now fucking itembuilds. The meta used to be a fluid player evolving thing.

You have a chance of beating a Yi as Kha. Called teamwork bro.
