Yellow Wards and ward upgrades

Apparently some people don't seem to understand that when you have ward jumping abilities ( ), you'll probably want to keep the damn yellow wards for when you need to I don't know, WARD HOP?!? I've seen so many people harass me for not upgrading to a blue trinket as Jax, Lee, or Kat, NEWSFLASH, you can't ward hop to blue trinkets and unless you bought the sighstone jg item as Lee you're gonna keep the yellow wards.

Sometimes the ADC's tell me to get a blue trinket while they still have the yellow one and this leads to the second point, why on earth as a squishy adc, are you going to ward in a dangerous range of getting killed when you could ward from a distance being so squishy as you are???

Can someone shed some light on other people's thoughts for me about these two topics?

My rule of thumb is that if you're a ranged champ, you should always upgrade into the blue trinket unless the ranged champion is the support, then you'll want to get the red trinket or if the enemy team has a lot of stealth champions. For melee champs, you can switch between blue, yellow, or red trinket depending on the situation.
