Did Riot canceled Rod of Ages buffs?

Months ago they tested a buff to that was:

+2 AP per stack (+20 when fully stacked) So in total 100 AP -> 120 AP

But they got removed, and I am almost certain that they said they were going to explore other ways to buff it.

Since then I never heard about it anymore.

yes, they did... becuase it turn out to be WAY too much and the item was busted when they did that.
