Why do thye do a reset in preseason if they just do it again at the start of next season?

What is the point of climbing to a certain tier just to be knocked down a literal teir below it and spend another 20+ games getting back to the your previous spot (and that's if you win every game). Honestly doesn't make any sense that you work hard all year to get to a certain point to have it ripped from you. Which i do understand that challenger hasn't been placed yet but thats 200 players. Why bump everyone else down a whole teir. Finished gold 4 last season finished my placements and got silver 4? i understand if its like silver 1 or something. Personally that system is just flawed to begin with. That's not how any other game season works to my knowledge. It would be know where near as bad if it didnt take a literally 5+ games to even get to silver 3. That isn't fun to me.

Yea, I feel like both of them are going to reset you to a lower placement - so what's the point of doing this one?

I'm not playing ranked until the season actually starts. Prefer 1 reset over 2. It already sounds like the people that got the 1 game reset largely were put even farther back than the first one. Really sucks for those that climbed a lot after their placement then got replaced even lower yet.
