What's the consensus on Kalista?

I have yet to see one do anything but get destroyed early mid and late game. I realize this means little as i've only seen her a handful of times, and im only in gold , so i thought i would ask.

I notice none of them ever seem to try to activate their % health poke in lane, which sort of makes me sad.

I think she's fairly balanced. She's got a lot of good potential to make big plays and do really well, but also has some big weaknesses.

Her passive gives her the potential to be incredibly floaty in team fights while doing great damage with her E and W. However not being able to cancel auto attack animations is really big. It's something you don't really notice until you actually play as her, but it opens you up to taking a ton of harass. Also to really do damage early game you're reliant on your oathsworn to proc your W, or getting a ton of stacks for you E.

I just tried her out, so this is by no means a succinct, detailed analysis, but here's my thoughts:

She's janky. REALLY janky. Moving with her passive takes a lot of getting used to, and I could never quite get the pattern down, and always felt like I was missing the exact point I wanted to get to. Kiting was awful, which is odd considering that you'd think it'd be easy, because anytime I fired a shot and tried to zip over, the lag on the movement was so bad that whoever it was caught up with me.

Her Q is alright. Amazing scaling, the hitbox is about as narrow as you'd expect from a spear, but it wasn't ever terribly difficult to hit. And I like the idea of being able to use it to clear waves later in the game when you deal so much damage that it can kill whatever you throw it at.

Her W was... odd. I played with a Soraka, and trying to get her to sync up attacks for the bonus magic damage against the enemy Kalista/Alistair was nigh impossible. The sentry is cool, though, and it certainly opens up some new avenues for map control.

Her E honestly feels like a worse version of Twitch's Expunge. The infinite stacking is nice, but chances are by the time you have more than two spears in someone they're already turning tail and running, which again her passive makes keeping up impossible because everytime I stopped to fire a shot they kept on running and got away.

Ult felt odd to me. I guess because the person you bond it to has to know where to put themselves. I found myself hitting R, rapidly pinging the target area, and hoping Soraka got the hint, which she picked up on towards the mid game. It never felt like it was doing any significant damage, and the knockback only triggered maybe twice that I saw. A possible glitch? I don't know. Either way, felt off to me.

All in all I think she's an... interesting champ. But much like Lucian, definitely not for me. Her kit is unique, no doubt, but it's her passive that turns me off entirely.

gets utterly destroyed agaisnt champs with snares. That said, if you dont have a hard cc dont even try chasing one
