Don't just show your disappointment on boards about the IP Refunds, speak with your wallets!
TL;DR: Don't spend money on Riot Games if you don't like the direction the game is going.

Riot has made it painfully clear that they rather alienate long term players by choosing short term investments of giving out less IP for their efforts instead of rewarding long term players for their efforts. They believe that giving players that have more IP than they ever know what to do with less ip for their efforts for their temporary rewards system will lose them unfathomable amounts of money when after the promotion ends they will end up having large chunks of IP for a future champion every now and then and potentially chromas for their skins if they have it.
So instead of complaining, make a pledge right here, right now to stop buying RP. Money is all that Riot cares about, they could hardly care less about having all of the older players stop playing league of legends because older players probably bought more skins than newer players and there are a finite amount of skins available, hence the awful hextech lootcrate system to milk more money such as spending hundreds of dollars for loot exclusive skins or with added chances of getting certain loot during events.
Prove Riot wrong that their idea of giving less money now will "save" them money in the long run.
Stop buying RP, wallets scream louder than words
Instead of spending hundreds or thousands of dollars on skins and keep fueling this company that does not care about its clients, try spending it on other things. You can spend it on other digital currency, upgrade your technology, save up for a vacation, invest it to make more money, buy nice clothes whenever you go outdoors, go out to eat, or anything else, money is quite useful for a lot of things!
New Star Guardian Skins come out? Don't get it. What about Star Guardian Urgot? Still don't get it, get lobster for dinner instead. New super mega fun chest loot exclusive with 3 times the regular rate of getting a gem (.00000003% chance)? Save your money for a nice car.
Stop feeding greedy Riot, at the end of the day they can do whatever they want because they know there will be people buying pretty shiny skins and newer players are way more easily tricked into spending money than older ones. They can sound apologetic (hah they wont), they can cry the biggest river to make Nami jealous about how much money they lose just existing and providing decent customer service, they can permaban everyone in the game and shut down the server, but at the end of the day they end up having your money forever and until you make that decision to stop investing your cash, you only keep encouraging them to continue doing what they are doing.
