it’s nearly impossible to tell which runes to take now. it may sound insignificant, but not taking that 1 armor rune into Lucian mid will totally ruin the lane for you, especially if ur playing a champ that can be easily abused early. in my own experience & watching streamers, this happens way to often and lanes are being unfairly lost because of this. i guess what I’m trying to say is that with the unpredictability of champ select, it would be extremely helpful to have some concrete indication of who is filling what lane on the enemy team (directly in champ select), so we can select proper runes. champ select is already filled with so many uncertainties, such as the players on my team & vsing, and the added surprise matchups really aren’t making it any easier...

yes it will, I remember thinking I was laning against a veigar so I got my magic resist ready, only to discover that some sicko is playing renekton mid. fucked my entire build order to survive him, shit happens.

People can switch roles whenever they want regardless as to what they're assigned so there's no point in giving an indication as to what roles the enemy team are. Champ select is supposed to be part of the game; you're supposed to be able to outsmart your opponents in champ select. I personally just go for scaling hp as opposed to armour/mr when I'm unsure who I'm against.
