League is no longer fun.

I'm not a very good player (Silver 1), But I have been playing since Season 4, so I think its fair for me to give some input on the games current state.

  1. 1 bad player on your team can now lose the game for you, but not the opposite. One good player doing well will find it extremely hard to solo carry the game 1v5. Even then when you get fed shutdown gold will just feed the enemy team gold for making mistakes after playing well which makes no sense.

  2. There are too many people doing too much damage. ![Chogath](https://ddragon.leagueoflegends.com/cdn/16.11.1/img/champion/Chogath.png) Can be the most tankiest champion in a game, yet still do 1000 true damage
with R, and have free sustain in lane for hitting fucking minions. Tanks should not be doing damage, they should be only tanking.

  3. It's okay to have counters but I just think having a meta is really dumb. There are 137 champions in league and there's only 30 in meta, where's the
diversity? You should be able to play any champion and have just as much fun and fair time as playing any "meta" champion

  4. This topic is looked down upon but everyone is too seriously toxic. Yes this game is competitive but if you don't have fun in ranked go play some norms to cool ur shit man.

I started playing in Season 4 with on and off gameplay, in Season 5 I was having fun, and then stupid little me decided to start playing Ranked in Season 6 and I've been hooked to it ever since. I can't get away from ranked games and I just have no fun because when I play ranked It doesn't feel like a fun game, it fees like a constant competition. Since season 6 I've been going full hard on ranked and hardly making any progress.
Season 5 I got bronze and quit ranked. Season 6 I was silver. Season 7 I played in silver for 800 games and finally got to gold. Season 8, I want to get Platinum but I'm not sure if I even want to play anymore.

There's my input.

  1. Your list numbering triggers me.

  2. One fed player can carry a team thats that is relatively even with their opponents. And one fed player should NEVER be able to 1v5. Because that implies the rest of your team is worse than their counterparts on the other team. Your team should NOT be able to win that. Its a team game, not a pve bot match.

  3. Your second point is valid, but Cho is an outlier. He does not necessarily represent the rest of the tank cast. And tanks cannot just tank or else they will be useless. They have to have some way of being a threat or else they will be ignored and unviable. This means they need some mix of cc/damage/mobility to function. However they should not be able to compete damage wise with damage oriented classes. Cough cough cho.

  4. Any champion is viable until you get to really high elos. The only thing holding you back is a lack of experience or skill with the champion. This point does stand for competitive, but that's just the nature of competitive. With a champ pool as large as league has, some champions are simply going to be at least slightly better than others. And pro players will take every advantage they can get to win the game. Not to mention some champions are simply not designed to fit into most teams' macro plans.

  5. Yes the community can be toxic. But it is objectively better than it used to be and I don't think bashing progress for not being completed is a very healthy thing to do. Especially when you aren't giving any suggestions.

And I'm sorry, but ranked, by its very nature, IS a constant competition. That is the whole point of that game mode and many people find that competition fun. If you want to play purely for 'casual' fun you will have to go to normals.

  1. "1 bad player on your team can now lose the game for you, but not the opposite." why not tho?

"One good player doing well will find it extremely hard to solo carry the game 1v5." isn't this a good thing?

" Even then when you get fed shutdown gold will just feed the enemy team gold for making mistakes after playing well which makes no sense." getting punished for making mistakes doesn't make sense to you?

As far as the chogath ordeal goes Darius Garen Illaoi Nasus Trundle Warwick Urgot can pretty much all do the same thing

"You should be able to play any champion and have just as much fun and fair time as playing any "meta" champion" Uhmm you can? if you strictly associate fun with "destroying the enemy team" then that is your own problem not riot's

"It's okay to have counters but I just think having a meta is really dumb. There are 137 champions in league and there's only 30 in meta, where's the diversity?" How do you define "in meta" because if it is "whatever is played in the lcs" then you are wrong if we are talking viable champs to play then there are way more than 30.

If this was a troll post gj you got me

This game was never meant to be possible to carry 1v5, if that was possible it meant that one player was basically at least equal to three enemy ones which is ridiculous.

The very notion is in my mind, absurd.

What you do, is that you gain a lead and get strong, then help the rest of your team get one or shutdown an enemy who might be a problem, that's how you win.

That's why midlane is so influential when the difference in skill is noticeable, one guy wins lane and starts roaming everywhere or invading enemy jungle, like that he has basically forced at least 2 enemy players to try and respond to him and him alone, at worst he might force down 4 enemy players and give his team a lot of space to move around.

I suppose everyone already knows what happens when the jungler gets ahead, basically more invasions and attacks than the damn British empire, because someone somewhere will collapse from the surprise attacks eventually.

Botlane gets fed? Two enemy champs collapse and you can rotate mid or start invading enemy jungle to collapse another, or start roaming both of them and possibly collapse both.

Toplane gets fed? Raidboss in action or mr/miss hyperscaling has joined the match.

Hi. Don't expect something to be fun or in a certain way if you don't put in some effort other than complaining and give negative meaning to everything you find. There's an art in making things fun, enjoyable, finding ways to grow and enjoy that little time you have. Take care!

This is why I'm playing arams. Less stress, more fun.

I started playing this game this very season. Got a 90% win rate in normal games all the way to lvl 30. When I got 2 30, I played like 10 normal games. Being matched vs high diamond player, master and challenger. I played with and vs the odd turtle as an example. So I tough I was decent at this game and so I moved to ranked game. I got seeded silver 2 and was Playing vs high gold. Then won most of my game (+30-34 lp per win) (-10-14 lp per losses) I managed to hit gold 1 to plat 5 promo and was playing vs p1-d5 player.

As of my first season and looking at the state of rank game, I've found out that the game community in high plat and low diamond is horrible and I am not sure if I am going to keep playing this game. Everything under plat 3 ELO, people don't give up they don't bash at each other as much as in high plat and low diamond. I've never seen a game with so many player saying stuff like KYS as oftenly as in this game. I'll say that at least 50% of the game you'll have player insulting each other to a point they literally stop thinking and simply type.

High win rate normal game have a way better community then high plat low diamond ranked game. Sadly I have no friend that really play this game, so Im considering quitting after not even 3 month of playing, unless there are some player out there who play normal to win.

One of the issues with tanks doing damage is that they need to do damage to be relevant otherwise they're impotent. I agree they do way too much, but I also wish Riot would explore other avenues of making tanks relevant besides giving them obscene damage. For example, Rammus, he does a fair bit of damage right now but his taunt is a really good way for a good Rammus to be relevant in fights but not be #1 on the team in damage.

This post is a bit old, but I'd like to put my two cents in regardless.

I was a gold player who played steadily for a few years. I went through some rough times, was inexcusably toxic, and got myself banned. I took that as a sign that I was becoming detrimental to the community, and vice versa, and took a good 8 months or so off from the game, hoping to improve upon my own attitude and perhaps come back when I was prepared to exhibit more maturity.

I made a new account back when I was banned, but never got around to leveling it before I made the decision that I needed time off to fix my attitude, so when I logged back in recently, I resolved that I ought to be at least a silent presence on this account, if not an enjoyable one to be around. But oh my word, it has been a horrifying experience. I haven't gotten banned or chat banned, my honor level is actually increasing, but I am NOT. HAVING. FUN. Sure, the silence is golden rule has been taught to me. But I decided to play through ranked promos. It was loss after loss. Losses with good KDAs, for the most part. I had afkers in almost every game, ragequitters, or people who got into the game and with no prompting whatsoever (not even a different teammate perhaps saying something mean in champ select or banning their champ) just began to run it down their lanes. I still tried to win these games, I have not been toxic to these players and have not gotten banned or even chat restricted because I truly sought to improve myself after losing my old account - which was devastating to me, as I had worked very hard to get that account where it was. Not just in elo, but in the beautiful collection of skins and mastered champions I had busted butt for. Now, I have been placed in an Iron division after this truly painful promotional series full of awful, cruel players. I've done my duty in reporting the afkers and inters, but I rarely, if ever, get notification that they've been punished. You only get punished if you're toxic. But my experience, quite frankly, has been that I should be able to call these people assholes without being banned. I'm not doing it, because I, again, have been consistently trying to improve my attitude, but they ARE. ASSHOLES. This just isn't worth it anymore. The only thing that would make this game worth playing again would be access to the account that I poured my heart into for years, but that's never going to happen, so I must bid League goodbye. Not being banned for intentionally ruining people's game experience over and over because you're silent in chat, but being banned for calling someone who does that a dick is not okay with me. Some people are jerks, and while I don't support saying things like kill yourself or racism, etc, I should be able to call out someone who is truly throwing the game down the crapper for their own kicks and giggles. And I shouldn't be placed where I landed when my promotional series was a spree of awful players getting their kicks out of taunting under the enemy turret as the enemies themselves type into all chat asking who pissed them off, cause it wasn't me or any of the other three on my team. It was just their idea of fun.

As to the rest of the points, you're correct that the game has balance issues. It always has, it probably always will. But I can appreciate the difficult in trying to make sure that all of these champs have an equal fighting chance against each other, even without factoring meta builds, off meta, etc. It's unbelievably complicated, so I can forgive a champ becoming broken for a while as Riot tries to fit them into the game without being a useless lump of bytes, but also not a ridiculously overpowered house landed on a flea's head.

if you don't have fun in ranked go play some norms to cool ur shit man.

Hahaha, you think that norms are any better than ranked. You can't have any fun, because anything that isn't meta is going to get stomped by the enemy who picked the top tier meta generalist

Well, unfortunately League isn't designed with fun in mind right now, and it's been that way for over 3 seasons. Fun is not the primary focus for Riot, not when the competitive side makes them a ton more $$$ which they continually burn on their penthouses and accessories (no really where did all that money go, I know they're not circulating it all back into the game).

Let's be real, most of the game's audience right now consists of egotistical players who only focus on getting their desired rank and then flexing to other players and themselves to satisfy their ever-growing e-peen.

Why would fun ever be the focus to people anymore when they can satisfy their ego by getting the rank they want? Sure, people could choose to have fun, however that just does not have the long term satisfaction that ranking up does.....until the seasons ends, ranks reset and it starts all over again.

Tl;dr Fun in gaming at this stage will never be the primary focus because developers have learned how to manipulate their audiences into remaining addicted via competition. There are exceptions, but this is just a general consensus of it all.

Side note: They made League extremely team based because that is what will benefit pro play, which in turn will bring in a vast amount of new players. Although in saying this this game is horribly optimised for newer players now.
