Smurfs.

Smurfing is just awful, especially in low-elo.

I have never felt so depressed and defeated in league unlike when I'm playing versus smurfs. League of Legends, is not a team-game in lower elos, no matter what happens, I'm in silver V playing with all low silvers on my team but the enemy team has a Diamond 5 Graves jungle on their team who is absolutely destroying us. My chat is absolutely silent not even one rager, joker be found, we're just running around like headless chickens at this point, knowing we can't do anything. Their Graves is at level 18 when we're barely trying to reach lv 15.

Learn From The Smurf's Gameplay There is nothing to learn from smurfs, absolutely nothing.

  1. Mechanics & Item Builds You can go on twitch/youtube/spectate higher elo games to see what they build but builds are situational, you could watch how they play champions, that doesn't guarantee you'll be able to pull it off. Mechanics is something you learn through experience and practice.

  2. Objectives When you're getting stomped so hard you can't take dragon, tower or baron unless the other team lets you as some show of pity. How are we supposed to reach objectives * as some show of pity. How are we supposed to reach objectives when the team with the smurf is constantly stomping us? We lack presence on the map, we lack the damage, we can't cs well due to the lane pressure nor can we roam well.

  3. Teamfighting So you have a smurf who is levels ahead of your whole team, fed and is playing graves. Well we could try to teamfight. Sure..why not? But guess what, low level position vs high elo positioning is vastly different and how am I a low elo player supposed to learn to position myself when 2 seconds into the fight I find myself running away or dead. http://i.imgur.com/rAOqXej.gifv

Now it's Silver no one's asking for god like miracles amongst your teammates but at this low elo, we talk basic shit, if you want to beat X champion do Y Z and A, we know the basics, when champions are in our low elo hands, champions such as Zed Riven LeeSin or Vayne . We're not too worried because it's low elo we can manage. But when a smurf comes into a game with these champions, it's like we had no chance what's so ever, they play that champion like a god. https://i.makeagif.com/media/9-02-2015/uFD6XW.gif

Low Elo is hard enough, where the average player of league of legends is. According to http://www.leagueofgraphs.com/rankings/rank-distribution, Silver has around 38% of the populous good and bad. It's frustrating enough as it is down here, having smurfs completely dominate you, castrate you is not fun. My team had no choice whatsoever, no control. Either we sit in fountain or we walk out of base and die it was depressing. Graves completely counter-farmed, he was assured kills on every gank and he just deleted us whenever he was near. Ever see a lv 18 Graves fight a lv 14 Twitch or Lux, of course you haven't, they're already dead by time they see him.

It's not fun playing a game you have no control over from the start.

P.S Even if you are a smurf, saying the words, "Don't feel bad, I'm a D5 Smurf" gives the exact opposite reaction.

I'm happy that you took the time out to write this long meaningful post.

I'm sad that I read it.

Well, having played smurfs myself before, they're doing a lot of things to combat this already, and frankly I'd say its pretty good the way it is now.

They've drastic increased the rate at which you gain rating. I generally get to plat in just 30 games. One of the main reasons I wanted to smurf was because I couldn't play ranked with my friends, and with it ranking up so fast, I won't be getting many games with them anyway.

They've also implemented rating outside of just wins and losses. This means they'll be better able to pair you with opponents. They generally make it so both teams are equal to team total rating. This means you'll likely be placed against other smurfs, or your other 4 partners are usually very low rating.

Lastly, you should be happy with facing better players. I would want to just play against challengers in Korea all day if I could. Playing with harder opponents makes you a better player if you know how to learn from your mistakes. This is unless you just completely casual and just wanted to play for fun, sure there's nothing wrong with that, but the more your elo stabilizes, the rarer smurfs become as they generally just breeze by your elo, unless your high plat+.
