Is Vel'Koz fine?

Or does no one play him? I hardly see any mention of him after 6.9. I feel like he had a nerf overall and his ult's effectiveness. I never wanted true damage on his ult because your AP isn't enough to "zomg shred tanks" like everyone seems to suggest. You have to have a constant lead on your target for it's potential but in what world does Riot live in where people regularly eat the full beam?

Maybe I just can't cope with the changes despite being well off before (RIP support Vel) but there's almost no feedback to tell.

I'm trying to give feedback! His mid game is much weaker, his multi-target damage is weaker, it takes forever to get him to the point where he cran shred a single tank like his "new fantasy" is supposed to do.

His support is weaker, too.

Vel'Koz players are feeding back. He is weaker. The changes feel horrible. I really hope they listen to us.

You're both doing it wrong, I'm sorry. Vel's changes feel great, and the true damage scaling on ult and passive is a god send for late. I bought him on release, and would only now consider him 'good'. I don't see why support vel would be impacted, his combo with 20 ap still chunks in lane.

I can see why support vel'koz is weaker, an ap ratio on his passive in exchange for some base damage nerfs means he's less gold agnostic, supports are better when they don't need gold to function

That said I'm pretty happy with the vel'koz changes, vel'koz used to fall off SO HARD and now I can do like 1400 true damage late game to a tank if I feel the need to, and I can still burst squishies just fine,

Hell I'd say he's leaning more op then up but that's just off my experience of like 5 games, not enough to really tell

Vel'koz was the first champ i've bought. I am a Vel'koz main and i am most successful with him actually. I loved everything about him.

He feels like shit now. I am seriously considering to abandon him. I feel sad about the changes. Incredibly sad

I think he is a bit stronger now. The main benefit of the changes is actually that you can build him differently. Old Vel'koz you would stack magic pen with Liandry's, Sorc Shoes, and Void Staff being core items. The new Vel'Koz does so much true damage, and has an AP ratio on passive and a better one on Ult you can just stack flat AP and CDR and you'll do substantially more damage. The ult will do less damage unless you land an E W combo first, but it will do more if you do land the combo.

Hes been massively nerfed in the support category and his lategame damage against tanks (which is supposed to be his strong point) is situational (assuming you can get passive off and then ult them).

Certainly he is not fine.

His winrate in Plat+ is down from 53.5% to 45.5%. So it was definitely a huge nerf for high level play. He definitely feels a lot weaker to me.
