I don't understand how Zed's Ult AD gain works.

I always thought that if there was a Shuriken above their head (at full health) meant i would get AD. But then i read the description and it says that i would get AD from the strongest enemy champion. So is that why there are Shurikens above their head at full health? The problem is , is that even when there is no Shuriken above their head i sometimes still get AD.

 Can somebody tell me cause i'm confused.

The shuriken above their head is signialing to the person with the highest AD - or the one you haven't taken highest AD from. You will reap the soul of the person you stole from who has the highest AD
