We should definitely have a 1 v 1 queue like the tournament that is played at the all-star break. First blood or first to 100 cs. You can go back to purchase and regain health but the map is ARAM. Obviously, Riot already has the program available since they use it at competitions. Why not let everyone play?
They did way back when. (The game mode was called snowdown Showdown)
The results from that game mode were not promising, so Riot never brought it back. They also canceled magma chamber, a map that was going to be tailored for 1v1, because of those results.
Following winter, they replaced it with legend of the Poro King.
competitive 1v1s?...Fiora wins. Jax wins. Everyone else loses.
They're adding a 1v1/2v2 option to customs. An actual queue likely wouldn't work though because of various reasons (e.g. balance, playerbase size).
