Dear Riot: The Case for Skin Shard Trading

After having played a bit of League and getting quite a few boxes and keys for the Loot section, I think there are a few things to be desired. I tried to outline the problem, my plan, and some benefits that you can take into consideration if you decide to pursue this.

The Problem

  1. Skins you don't want - Every time I get a chest, I get a little surge of excitement as I look forward to potentially getting a cool skin shard. I know that I probably won't get Pulsefire Caitlyn or Ezreal but I'm fine with that. However I would like to get a skin I want to use. So far it has been few and far between (Woad King Darius, Battle Regalia Poppy, Super Galaxy Kindred). What ends up happening is I have an overabundance of skin shards (like 3 Annie skins) and orange essence that I don't use. The only option is to reroll which just gives me another skin permanent for someone I don't play.

  2. Skins you don't need - If I already have a legendary skin I don't really want another one for the same champ. So reroll again, Urgot skin again.

Both of these together make me frustrated and I know I am not alone.

The Solution _An in-client forum for trading loot (skin shards/champ shards maybe even key fragments) _

The layout can look similar to the custom game forum with summoner names and a tag for what wants to be traded Ex: Headmistress Fiora for just about any ADC skin SmashburgerBRLA 2 days ago There can be search and browsing feature as well and views can be limited to friends or general public

Trades will include the initial Offer then the Summoner can counteroffer by viewing the skins available in the other player's loot. This process can be repeated as many times as needed. Eventually the offer will be accepted and both parties get 24-48 hour period to confirm once again that they want to trade. Then the trade can go through. (This would be a trade of shards and wouldn't turn these into permanent skins). These trades could also cost 100-250 orange essence to be confirmed too. So the essence total cost is the cost to turn the shard into a permanent plus the trade fee. Why does this benefit both us and you? The Benefits

  1. Higher Satisfaction - I think the majority of players would be happy with this addition, it gives them more options to get skins and they will play more once they have those skins. If players don't want to trade they don't have too they can still disenchant and reroll to their heart's content.

  2. Higher Purchase of Chests, Keys, and Essence - the main reason I don't buy chests and other materials is because I feel that the chances of me getting something I want is really low. Now every skin I get could be the one that someone else wants. I can trade but I'll need more essence and keys for chests. So this has a snowball effect leading to more buys which I think y'all will like.

  3. More Summoner Connections - You could do some time of perks for high volume traders to boost the process and create new connections/friendships across the community.

I hope you take this into consideration and I'd love to see this become a reality.

Sidenote: you could release a skin line based on a dark ages marketplace theme:

  • Auctioneer Gangplank
  • Enforcer Gragas
  • Horse Trader Kled
  • Bear Trainer Annie
  • Black Market Twisted Fate
  • Pickpocket Talon
  • Snake Charmer Illaoi

Sounds Interesting. But Riot would have to plan it out very well and even then it might not come to bear fruit. Interesting idea but something like this would take a long time anyway. So even if it was implemented it would be along time before ya got to see it. item 3116
