Yet another Quinn thread.

Ever since Quinn's release, most players have been calling her trash. Most complaints were about her ult and how counter intuitive it seemed to the role of an adc. "Why would I want to go into a melee form and just get jumped on and killed. This doesn't even give me bonus defensive stats!" The thing is...Quinn isn't your standard adc. She was a great duelist and a pretty terrifying assassin when ahead. Her strong mobility, base damage, attack speed steroid, and blind made it VERY difficult for any adc to 1v1 her and win once Quinn had access to her ult. That's where she excelled. Typical Quinn play revolved around pushing your early game strength, using blind to win trades, getting a lead, roaming and assassinating people with your ultimate. With all that said, let's look at some of the bigger changes on the PBE.

Passive Targets marked for .5seconds less Passive mark deals 125% total attack damage rather than 25-215 (+50% bonus AD)

This isn't that big. The passive ends up doing a little more damage late game if you assume she builds something like IE, Crit item(pd/shiv), Boots, Bloodthirster, Last whisper, and a defensive item. That gives you 200 bonus ad, and 302 total ad at level 18 which is a difference of about 63 damage (Not taking runes/masteries into account here. Just some quick basic math.)

Q Deals less base damage and has a lower ad scaling against targets with high current HP. Higher base damage and .03 higher scaling against targets with extremely low current hp. Halves cooldown if unit is killed NO LONGER BLINDS

Here's where the bigger changes start to take place. Remember what I said earlier about the typical Quinn plays? Early game strength and using blind to trade? Well forget about the blind because that's no longer there. This means that you're going to be taking more damage in these trades because you can't nullify 1-2 autos from your opponent. Also, the damage went down against opponents that have high hp. This is your main poke. Your poke doesn't do good damage until they've been poked down...see the problem with that? The only good things about these changes are the cooldown reduction upon killing a unit (more waveclear) and the slightly higher damage when your opponent is missing a good chunk of their health. Every other use of this ability is worse off.

W Movement speed nerfed at levels 2,3,4,5 (60% -> 40% at level 5) NO LONGER GIVES DOUBLE ATTACK SPEED WHEN IN BIRD MODE (because you can't attack in bird mode)

At level one, the movement speed buff is the same, but the PBE version goes up by 5% each level while the live version goes up by 10%. Also, not being able to utilize the double bonus attack speed SERIOUSLY hurts Quinn's consistent damage output in a drawn out fight. I'll get back to that in a bit.

E Same base damage level 1. Less than half damage level 5. Slow reduced by .5 seconds

Just a straight nerf. Less damage as you level the ability and a slow that doesn't last as long.

R Part 1 2 second channel added. Lower level 1 movement speed increase, higher level 3 movement speed increase Getting hit puts ability on cd (Can't transform mid fight) NO LONGER IGNORES UNIT COLLISION Getting hit by champions, turrets, or hard CC takes you out of your ult form.

R Part 2 Damage changed from 100/150/200 (+.5 bonus AD) (+1% damage per 1% missing health) to 100% total ad.

THIS IS HUGE! Let's tackle this in parts...First of all, the 2 second channel time makes this ability impossible to use in the middle of a fight to either gap close or escape. It even gets put on a short cooldown if it's interrupted (by getting hit by just about anything). Even if you manage to get your ult off, you get forced out of it as soon as an opponent hits you or tags you with a hard CC OR if you hit an enemy. Not only that, but the damage you deal with your ultimate is pathetic. One auto attack's worth of damage in a small AoE? You know what this means? Quinn's ult is now just a way to get around the map. You can't fight in this form, you don't get an AoE Q, you don't get to stick to your target with E, and you don't get the bonus attack speed from W that boosts your damage output in a long fight. Yes, there are other champions out there that have mobility ultimates (Twisted Fate/Reksai for example) but they appear at their desired location almost instantly. Twisted Fate gets to reveal all champions on the map in addition to his ultimate and Reksai is a jungler...she's supposed to gank and move around the map with tunnels. Yes, you can argue that this is what Quinn is supposed to do. Roam and kill people. However, it's much harder to do that when you nerf her burst, make her take more damage by removing blind, apply CC for a shorter duration, lose access to the full power of your attack speed steroid, and lose the AoE execute from your ultimate.

I saw these changes listed out in text and immediately knew how bad this was going to be. I decided to wait, play a game, and test it out before I posted. After playing her, I haven't changed my mind. This is a REALLY bad change and I hope Riot doesn't go through with it as is.
