Fixing the AFK problem

I think that if a player has afk'd longer than a set amount of time(ex. 10 min), there should be a way for another summoner to join the game. Riot should create an option for a summoner to fill a champions shoes in ranked. This could be done by creating a "Join game in progress" option. The new summoner would start off right where the last one left off, same items, masteries, and runes. If the team lost, the entire team should receive a lower deduction in LP, but if the team won they should receive the same amount of LP. This would help in so many ways. Teams that have an afk deserve a shot at winning and don't deserve such a heavy loss in LP. RIOT PLOX

Well here's what I think should be done. I agree with your idea as it is probably the only semi-logical way to approach the situation. Another thing that could be done, in the case the person goes afk for an extended period of time is average out the rest of the team's level and make that their level. That way, you can at least give the team a chance rather than risking the chance of this person get killed constantly bc he/she is very under leveled. Other moba's use a similar practice as this.

Wait, you mean you'll ask to some people "Hey, look, here's a match with Ezreal, but he fuk'd up with his runes/masteries so he has tanky runes/masteries, and went 0/6 before afk'ing. Oh and he start Sunfire. Do you want to risk your LPs playing this game?" and expect them to answer "Hell yeah bro'!"

Plus, what happens if he reconnects?

The only way to make that balanced to a certain extent (To keep some form of cheating out of it) Would be to make a second option next to "Surrender" at the 20 minute mark for "Get a new team mate" If the majority of the team did not vote for new teammate the vote for surrender is reheld and you are no longer allowed to vote for a new teammate. However if the vote passes then they are no longer allowed to surrender, and the new teammate is put in starting at 0 gold.

just do what dota does if someone afks for so long in the beginning game gets cancelled where your free to leave at no pen
