Courage of the Colossus

For those of you who don't know, Strength of the Ages (SotA) is getting removed next season. I completely agree with this for the most part as it was definitely annoying to have to take it on champions I didn't want to take it on just because it was needed. But this isn't about SotA getting removed, this is about the new keystone in its place Courage of the Colossus. What I understand this keystone to do is give a shield based on maximum health for inflicting hard cc on an enemy champion. I think it looks really interesting and it is 100 percent going to make tankier champions way more fun to play, but does 30 seconds really sounds like a viable cooldown? Thunderlords is at like 18, and the other keystones have no cooldown at all, like warlords or fervor. I think it would be better to have the cooldown scale with the hard cc abilities the champion has naturally (no cooldown). For example this keystone would be very strong on Nautilus. His q cooldown is about 13-9 seconds (not factoring cdr or anything) so wouldn't that be cooldown enough? He also has his ult and passive, which both have relatively high cooldowns, so wouldn't it be better to just let him have a very strong complete all in? instead of giving him the benefit of the shield only for one ability, every 30 seconds?

Having it scale based on how much hard CC is in a champions kit?

That's honestly a lot of work for something that will probably get busted with said work.

No what i meant by that it would have no cooldown, so its "cooldown" would be when the champ's cc ability is down

But the shield scales with maximum health? So champions like Riven wouldn't really be taking it, as they opt for Tlords or Fervor

this mastery will be cancer enough without any buffs

Yeah that is true. I just feel like it looks really weak atm and tanks that should be taking it (Nautilus, Leona, Sion) would opt for Bond or even Grasp instead just because of how weak Colossus is.

Have you seen the shield values? 10 + 10 x level + (7% maximum health for every nearby champion) for 4 seconds. A 30 second cooldown is more than balanced for that, especially since most teamfights won't last more than a single tank/support rotation anyway (or at least the tank won't).

Think about, say, a Leona. A no-cooldown Courage of the Colossus means that she would be able to proc the shield once every 9 seconds at level 17, less with some CDR inherent in a tank support's build, while also gaining bonus armor and MR. Lategame that decreases to once every 53 seconds depending on her CDR, meaning she has a permashield at melee range and can still proc it additional times with E and ult.

Or, say, a Kennen. He would seriously have a permanent shield with how often he can proc his passive stun on someone. Udyr would get one every 6, on top of his turtle shield. Singed would get one every 10~6, depending on his CDR.
