Riot wtf. Half of this season is filler.

Look at patches from 8.14+. Almost nothing is changing and those patches are empity. They are just fillers. Graves losing 3 ad. Irelia losing 5 ms. Patches like that are jokes.

Losing 3 AD on Graves is significant though...

Many base stat changes on any champion is significant really. AD, AS, Health, Mana, Movement Speed, base stat changes tend to exacerbate Early games which echo through the mid game.

That's why it hurts me when I see people who literally know nothing about balance trashing the balance teams for "filler" changes like -3 AD on a champ like Graves

Like...they actually just don't know what they're talking about lol

HÔPÊ1 votes

... but that 3 ad didn't do shit. I still could oneshot everybody, even tho I can't play this champion xd And that 5 ms is even more stupid than Graves changes, since she won't even feel it. She has her q for that. Graves should be nerfed even harder. He was OP the whole season, without major nerfs. Was in meta a whole season.

You are giving those changes some weird significance, while you fail to realize that winrate doesn't change from nerfing only. 3 ad nerf did nothing almost, the real hit was on DH and Xin getting back into meta. Graves struggles against champions that have gap closers and cc.

Irelia won't even feel that change to ms and will get even stronger. Also Lucian will grow to being pick or ban, because instead of getting nerfed his items have got cheaper and Ali and Kaisa were nerfed. Maybe we will see Lucian top and mid again.

See now you're just lying

You dont even play Graves. You're attempting to make it seem like OMG I WAS ONESHOTTING EVERYONE WITH GRAVES when its just made up. A complete lie. Sorry man, you've been caught

Losing 3 AD on Graves is significant though...

??? and exactly how is that significant?

what does it stop him doing?

Slythion2 votes

Clear speeds, safety, early dueling strengths, especially when you realize each of Grave's pellets from his autos are affected by that nerf. All of this directly effects what Graves is specifically picked for.

Not to mention that base AD nerfs have traditionally hurt champions more than the community usually expects, you just have to look back at Vayne's -3AD nerf a bit ago that dropped her winrate by like...2% of something, and she's not even a champion that aims to utilize her AD in the early game anyways.

HÔPÊ2 votes

That winrate dropped because of a meta shift on bot lane. Other champs have got stronger so she couldn't win as many match-ups.

Slythion2 votes

And he's already dropped down to an even 50% winrate, but you're gonna call this patch a "filler" after accomplishing very clear results? ya ok

HÔPÊ1 votes

Because it was filler. Those changes are meaningless. Meta shifted because some players discovered a new way of playing xin. He didn't get buffed. Riot didn't change meta. We did.

He is both a Marksman and a Jungler.

Come on man it's right there for you.

You're leaving out some context. For example, the -3 AD on Graves is more important than you're letting on but they also halved DH early damage on the same patch which is what he took. The result of this is he has now fallen 3% WR and is down 5% play rate on top of that. So meme all you want but those are fairly drastic numbers

There have been plenty of changes and some of them have bigger impact than others. For example nerfing sudden impact and Electrocute nerfs a whole lot of champions even though OMG ONLY 2 CHANGES MADE. One of my biggest gripes with this board is threads like this. Just twist anything to suite your purposes to create an angry mob and not actual discussion

worlds is usually where change slows. and it can be healthy to have moments where you let the dust settle some to know what to focus on next.

HÔPÊ1 votes

but not for a half of a season, that is way too long

ZackTheWaffleMan2 votes

damn, i guess graves has gone from disgusting to just broken

Eedat2 votes

Not really. He's good, not broken

ZackTheWaffleMan1 votes

Fair enough. I was trying to exaggerate for upvotes, but it had the opposite effect.

DH change was the only change that I have felt in last 6-7 patches. After that 3ad nerf Graves felt almost the same. His winrate dropped bc xin went up a bit in meta and was used a lot more often. Graves can't do a lot against him. Graves wasn't hurt by that 3 ad nerf, he was hurt by DH nerf and meta shift and dropped only by 2-3% because he can be played with other runes as well.

I still think that those last patches were just bad.

They went too overboard on the whole "we've realized too much change too often is bad" and just went straight to not doing anything.

Fuzzylogick4 votes

You forget that 8.14 is around the time they went into "we realized we changed too much too fast so we're going to stop doing that". What they failed to realized however, is that they left the game in such a shit state that nothing less than the big changes they have been doing up until then were the only things that wouldve actually helped them attempt to fix this game, so instead they just decided to leave it in the worst state its been in for a long time.

zaire903 votes

Cant remember but didnt they say around that time that they didnt want to do any major changes for the rest of the season so the game wouldnt keep going through big meta changes this season and that this was around the time of the worlds patch so they already didnt want to change the meta

HÔPÊ1 votes

But that is too long. Half of a season without any major changes is boring as hell.

Massive changes are more interesting than nothing at all. I prefer the way it was before.

Well I submitted this pretty game changing idea in gameplay+

I can't see why it would be deleted. I think you'll enjoy reading it if you want to explore what real change could look like.
