How did you climb the ranked ladder?

I have been playing ranked recently. I was placed in Silver 4 and then I made it to Silver 3. I can't don much really because I got demoted to Silver 5 now :( How do other people get to higher ranks and how do you climb? I have been having trouble and if anyone has any tips and would like to brag, here is the place!

I also am never negative during a game, not because it will make us lose but because it's plain rude. I wouldn't talk to any human the way some do over this game.

If you are being serious i can give you 2 easy things to work on that will help 1:Be self critical, dont blame your teammates, ask yourself "what can i do to better our chances of winning" and "what could i have done better" even if its something stupid like making a poor initiation on like amumu.. hey maybe if u made a better one, it wouldve lead to a won team fight.. or what ever the case is. Maybe you miss played and got ur adc killed.. Maybe you didnt ward enough, ping enough, perhaps you didnt play safe when you knew your lane was lost. So yeah be self critical after and during every game and dont point out others mistakes unless they legitimately ask you to. Focus on yourself! 2.Tighten up your champion pool. Idk what your specific case is.. but if you play a lot of champs and are 1 of those guys who are always trying to get a good counter pick.. Stop.. just stop. You are silver 5, counter picking is almost pointless at that elo. Pick a handful of champions you like and get really good at them and take them to ranked. I went from silver 4 to gold 2 playing only rengar and lee sin on this account (currently its gold 3 rip) and my main is gold 1 playing almost entirely rengar from gold 5 to gold 1.

Spam jungle bruisers that have insane map presence and teamfighting/pick potential/kill potential. Volibear, vi, warwick, hecarim helped me climb to plat on my main.

Most important skills to pick-up at your elo:

  1. Learning to farm under tower
  2. Map awareness/warding
  3. Not dying

If you can get decent at these 3 skills, you can literally split push your way to gold.

Tips for #1: Melee minions take about 45% dmg per tower shot. Ranged minions take about 85% dmg per tower shot.

Tips for #2: If you see the jungler on the other side of the map, don't put your ward down. Put it down 1-2 minutes after. Always buy a pink ward.

Tips for #3: Don't fight when the enemy has more minions than you. If you already losing, don't focus on killing the enemy to even the score; focus on farming and wait for a jungle gank. If you're taking 2 or more auto attacks to get 1 farm, you're doing it wrong. If you're taking 1 auto attack to get 1 farm consistently, you're doing it wrong. Generally, you should take only 1 auto attack every 3 farm. You achieve by acquiring positioning skills and using abilities to farm every now and then.

Words of Wisdom: It's not the player with the most kills that win; it's the player with the most gold. There are other ways of generating gold besides getting kills. Your priorities in the game should be as follows:

  1. Objectives
  2. Outfarming
  3. Team assists/kills
  4. Solo kills

Why in this order?

  1. Objectives ultimately win the game.
  2. Farming is the one source of income that is almost entirely under your control; therefore it is the easiest and most consistent way of generating gold. The better farming team almost always wins.
  3. Team assists/kills is the second easiest and most consistent way to generate gold; playing as a team significantly increases your chances of achieving enemy casualties.
  4. Solo kills only happen if you're better than your opponent. Never play with the mindset that you are better than your opponent; that's how you feed. Never play with the mindset that your player is better than you; that's how you tilt. Always play with the mindset that you and your opponent are equally skills and equally intelligent; this way you neither tilt nor underestimate your opponent.

I rather have 15k worth of farm than 10k worth of kills. Go for the kill only if the enemy allows himself to get set up to die.

I became a support main and carried my trash teams to victory through sheer grit. (I'm not kidding, I mained karma for the last 2 months of Season 4, had a 70% winrate with her from the support role.)

Seriously did this for silver 3 to plat 2 in under a week on my smurf after my plat 1 main got banned.

I Havent played ranked this pre season (and wont be, waiting for the s6 to start) anyways last season my tactic was pick low playrate but good champs ,mine were Ashe, MF pre marksman rework, Zac jungle, tham support, velkoz mid low playrate makes you opponents puzzled which gives you advantage.

hmmm whats a good champ to carry top with? I use Gnar but i find him heavily reliant on team and jax and mundo are both banned wayyyyyyyy too often...need another champ lol

 Hey man I just started a few months ago, got placed silver 2 from 6-4 in promos i think. Then I duo'd with my roomate and all was chill and then I realize im in silver 5 lol. Roomate gets promoted to plat so fml gotta get good fast.

I take a break from ranked to practice my other lanes because I realize you don't get jungle every game. So then I jump back in and get myself to silver 2 again. I have some great games all is well and then I get sent back to silver 4. I'm like okay what am I doing wrong?

The turning point came when I started watching pro games and looking at their stats and what they were doing. They werent dying was basically it. So I stopped dying and focused on objectives more and here I got to my current state gold 5 on the last day of the season.

in bronze... just use darius or garen for everything... just built both of him as tank... nobody can stop you... in silver elo... take pusher (with good escape) and pushing the lane to win... tryn, nasus, teemo, quin, nid, etc in gold elo... same step but be cautious... in plat elo... take champion that can do teamfight well... amu, malphite, rumble, wu, trundle, sion, etc in dia elo... same step... but try to finish the game early as possible... in challenger/master... never be there...

This is my own opinion so you dont need to agree from what i say cuz this made me climb the ladder in season 5 I started off in Silver 3 Back then, i mained adc. with Quinn (old quinn, not the new one). i went duo with my best friend and we won like 80% of our games together. ( we skyped a lot too and pre-made bot in silver is easy to carry cuz they focus the tanks anyways)

After some climbing with my friend, i started to solo in Gold 5 because he liked to troll more in ranked ( Not playing so serious ) and i liked to climb really fast so we decided to split up.

So from gold 5 to gold 3 i mained jinx, really. that champion in season 5! she was so easy to climb the ladder cuz i couldn't climb it anymore with quinn. And she was so strong at that moment.

From gold 3, they started to focus the adc. so mostly, you get blown up by an assassin. so i thought, let me main mid now.

And it was unbelieveable how fast i climbed the ladder, from gold 3 to Diamond 5.

My goal was Diamond 5. i was so happy that i finally reached my goal. And after that, i quitted ranked cuz i reached my goal.

Maybe this year, i might go for master or challenger^^ but who knows:p

tl'dr duo with someone like mid and jungle and let him camp you until you get fed and then **roam **alot. to help your teammates out

Teamwork. Teamwork is the key to climbing the ranked ladder. Do not rage, flame, curse, yell, or throw salt at your teammates for reasons such as "I got no ganks" or "Ward the damn map". Treat your team as if you want them to treat you. Try to keep everyone on board and happy. Doing this will prevent your team from going on tilt, and will inspire game-making decisions. You probally got demoted to s5 due to toxicity in your recent teams. So i say stop the toxicity, because one toxic player can bring down the whole team.

I just watched my friend who is in B1 and I can tell you what he was doing wrong. His CSing was bad and under the tower it was horrendous. On top of not being able to CS under a tower, he didn't even know how to - two tower shots then attack for melee minions and attack, tower shot, attack for caster minions. The other thing is he didn't know when or how to trade. He didn't know his champion's damage or his opponent's damage and would always run away at the slightest aggression.

I played Kayle in mid, top, or jungle in low elos because she keeps a lot of pressure on the map with her move speed boost and fast waveclear. She's good at split pushing, team fighting, and she scales really well. Low elo games last longer so she'll almost always take advantage of scaling. Then just make the right decisions.

i just kept improving. get more cs, better pathing, more focus on objectives, help team more, ask for less. it's mostly all simple things, but they all add up. the better you play, the easier it becomes to win games.

at my point now, if i were to play at silver 5, i would just play something and go around killing everyone and taking the objectives and letting my team take what they want for free, since other team wouldn't be able to stop me. to get to that level, you have to understand and see small mistakes the other team makes like positioning, mana control, and ability cool downs and more.

if you see something you can improve on, anything at all, work on it until you believe it's perfect and then move onto the next thing.

i also main support by the way, while also playing adc and top. what you play matters less than how you play.

honestly 2 things.

  1. Lasthitting perfectly under pressure, learn it.
  2. Game understanding and how to trade and what to do ingame. Mechanical skill doesnt matter if you know how to play your role efficient in low elo.
