A Struggling AD Carry

Hey guys!

I'm Rat with a Hat, jungler main with a secondary around AD Carry. Recently, I've been playing a decent amount of ranked, and have been losing quite a bit. And ZOMG my teammates are all so bad! Like how can I be matched with such noobs like I deserve better than this I'm the next Doublelift, GIVE ME CHALLENGER!

Ok now let's actually talk. Recently, I've been noticing that I have been extremely inefficient with my time as an AD Carry. My farm has been sub-par (getting like 6-7 CS per minute) and I haven't been dealing much damage in fights (usually 10-15k down the other AD carry and 2nd to 3rd best on my team). I feel like I'm just using my time extremely inefficiently and could spend more time farming to get items or more time team fighting to... well, team fight.

So, I'm here to ask anyone if they have any tips they can give me to help me work on where I should be on the map at which times and what to think about when thinking about where I should be. Thanks a ton in advance!

TL;DR: I suck at ADC. Tips on macro-level decision making?

Hi, I'm an adc main thats played alot of adc.

Your playstyle on adc should be based upon what adc's your playing, but generally you want to stay behind the frontline, insert as many possible auto attacks as possible between abilities, and if you stay alive longer, means you do more damage. cs is really important, try to aim for 160 cs at 20 mins, I average 180 at 20 mins, but that takes getting used to. Good luck!

Look at the brightside. In seasons 6 you won't have to be good at ADC to be effective. I feel like they are getting over buffed anyways

  1. Figure out the ADC you're using and play to their strengths. Ashe and Sivir for example are polar opposite Utility Carries, one you use to counter the enemy comp and the other to build a stampede comp around. You don't use Sivir when you need soft lockdown on the enemy team and you don't use Ashe for teamwide proactive rushes. EVERY Marksman has a particular sub-job to fill on top of being the team's ADC. It's on you to realize what these sub-jobs are and to take advantage of them.
  2. Teamfight or split push or farm early or duel early or siege or dive or whatever, this has a lot to do with point 1. Your Marksman is designed for a special job on top of being a marksman, figure out how to take advantage of that.
  3. Last hit man. 6-7 CS per minute is miserable (you can get 12-13 CS per minute for context. You are at a 50% CS efficiency right there). Just keep drilling this. Think of it like this, you don't want to get good at stressing over getting every single CS. You want to get good at getting every single CS without stressing over it, if you get what I'm trying to tell you.
  4. As a beginner tip, try to focus especially hard on freezing the lane early, then shoving when you reach a powerspike over the opponent. Graves for example reaches his power spike with flat AD purchases and having his ultimate. Vayne's is when she finishes BotRK. etc.
