Tilting Problem. Help! (plz)

So my friends have been playing League a lot less recently in favor of things like StarCraft, Civilization, and newer games. I'm completely fine with that happening, but my friends keep on getting "tilted." The game isn't the same as it was in Season five and aren't willing to put time into League anymore in favor for those new games, so they keep on doing worse than they're used to doing and just start getting really mad and saying stuff about League that I don't find necessarily true (I would give examples, but it would mostly be asterisks, so it wouldn't help much). Because of all of those things combined, I've started to like playing with them less.

But I don't want to play with them less-- they're still my friends, ya know?

I guess what I'm asking is, does anyone have any tips on how to stop people from tilting or any advice specific to my situation? Thanks a ton for your time and thank you in advance for your help :D

Tell them to mute people. Tell them it's a game. Tell them you can't win every game. Tell them if they really want to win every game then they have to play hours and hours and practice a lot. Tell them to stop crying over a game.

Never tell them to calm down that doesn't work at all from what I have seen. But besides that I don't honestly know. I only play with people who just don't care myself although I used to be the very angry type and get super mad at games. I just got tired of it all and stopped caring but that isn't good either :( You could try to explain how getting mad will just make things worse and say you mad bro whatcha gonna do about it huh then boot him.

Best advice? Tell them to wait a patch or experiment

Sounds like you're relatively young. It's just a growing process, not a big deal

Tell them to not worry about winning or losing, and not take the game seriously until they are emotionally able to handle seriousness. Just play the game, goof off, and if things really start to make them sad, just realise that they are all among friends and they can throw the game if they need to.

When I start getting annoyed with losing / winning, I am comfortable enough to tell my friends about this, and they are okay with me doing stupid things like feeding, or trying to solo Baron, or just selling all my items and running around the map avoiding people.

But yea, they should not worry about winning and losing, and just not give a shit in general.

There's good ways to stop yourself from getting tilted (i.e. everything Checots said) but it's harder to keep your friends from getting tilted :/

It sounds like they're being sore losers and trying to blame their losses on anything but themselves. They probably just need a break so don't push them to play right now too hard and they might come back around...or find new friends :P
