Just made gold for the first time in 4 seasons of playing (I don't play too many games, I get anxiety, but I made a goal to make gold).

I'm scared of playing anymore because I don't want to go back to silver.

I've browsed quite a bit and it seems like there is a demotion shield after joining a new league where losses don't count against you for 3ish games? Also, it seems you can't drop a league (Gold 5 to Silver 1) unless your MMR falls to Silver 5 MMR? Problem is I can't find anything that shows this for sure! Any helps is greatly appreciated.

Ty the FAQ page on Riot's support page. Demotion shields go 3 games after moving up a division and 10 after moving up a tier. So in your case, you can lose all ten games and not get demoted. Takes a lot of losses to demote. Your MMR needs to be at least one tier lower than your current rank to demote a tier.

Dropping a tier is extreme. Most people won't do it unless they really were boosted or have severe tilt syndrome

If you have any business being in gold at all, you should have almost no risk of actually demoting.

Presumably you have a 50% win ratio or better since you were climbing to get into gold, so your win rate will still be around there. Getting demoted a tier tends to take like 10+ losses in a row before you get demoted (or shifting to a more long term winrate under 50%), so it's extremely unlikely that an unlucky streak will result in demotion, since most unlucky streaks will still be balanced out by wins given your overall winrate is theoretically 50% (or more) when at a gold 5 MMR level (and presumably higher still if you find yourself at lower mmrs).

I dont know how it works but i do know that my friend went through 14 loses at gold 5 0 lp and he did not get demoted.

I felt the same way getting into Gold xD! yeah when you recently joined a new rank i think your immune for 10 losses

If you have a 3 or 10 game shield, how can you see how many games you have left before it disappears? I also recently got gold in flex Q and am scared to play with my friends since I don't want to be demoted. The ranked FAQ says we have the 3 or 10 game protection, but it doesn't show it anywhere I look in the client.
