Just feel like spreading a little bit of love for the gameplay devs.

Whenever I load the frontpage I often see people criticising balance decisions, new champions, reworks etc. but never some positive feedback. Mistakes are easier to recognize than success and players who actually like the state of the game or a change Riot made aren't going to post it on the boards, so I thought I might aswell do it.

I mean just look at the problems the game had when preseason started and how many of them they've fixed already:

  • No more "ADC in 2k17 LuL", adcs actually seem like they're performing well atm
  • Lethality was too weak, then too strong, now in a perfect spot
  • Assassin Meta is over, now they're back in line
  • Same with tank Meta
  • List of champions who were OP or above average at some point and received nerfs that put them back in line Rengar Talon Khazix Poppy Vayne Jhin Varus Leblanc Maokai LeeSin Jayce Shaco Nautilus and probably some more that I can't think of atm
  • On the other hand, some champions who were in a somewhat weak spot and got decent ( or less worse ) again after some buffs Fiddlesticks Chogath Aatrox Nidalee Kalista Azir MasterYi Kindred and more
  • Nerfed some damage you gain from masteries and items and as a result finally stopped some of the damage creep.

And while they are some champions that rose to be too good again in the current meta and there are still a few that are arguably too weak, there are either already some changes for them on the PBE or there will be in a few weeks.

That's basically all I wanted to say. GJ you guys!

I agree

However, i dislike their idea of balance with champions they clearly play favorites with. How many reworks did Ryze get compared to other champions that violate bad designs. Why are some champions nerfed? Is it their popularity or the revenue they generate?

Why are some champions left in the dark for years?

These are grown men being paid to do what has to be one of the comfiest gigs in the world right now, putting out 2 lines of balancing for a video game every 2 weeks where there are 0 stakes on the line (no ones getting fired if lucian hits 60% play rate, their pay isn't getting cut if ivern hits 60% win rate). Cry me a river, seriously. League's balance team is bad at their jobs and they should feel bad, because if they don't what other reason do they have to improve their craft? You think tencent or marc merill is going to come down from the heavens and smite riot aether because ahri has maintained a 53%+ winrate for the 90th month in a row? lol good joke.
