Getting Out of Bronze... Any advice?

Colton147··6 votes·1,335 views

As the title says...

I am not really struggling in climbing on Bronze, but I could always use the advice that y'all may have. :)

Roles I main: Support, Jungle

However, I am capable of playing all roles just fine (I am a bit iffy on ADC though).

Here are my main champions in each role... Top: Fiora/Maokai Mid: Heimerdinger/Zyra Jungle: Ivern/Elise/Sejuani ADC: Caitlyn/Lucian Support: (Backline) Janna/Lulu (Frontline) Leona/Braum

Anyway, any advice or suggestions that you may want to share? :)

Make an new account.

I am serious, it is a lot easier to get placed above bronze with a fresh new account than to climb out of bronze with an account that has shitty mmr.

I have no idea why this was downvoted. Its solid advice. Maybe people think you're trolling?

Isn't it better if op step up and improve his gameplay ?

Mig892 votes

I'd give the same advice but only if you're a silver level player. If he makes a new account and he belongs in silver it's one thing. If you're not silver/gold level the new account will just fall back into bronze Only make a new account if you think you can hit gold. Otherwise it's not really worth the effort as you won't get rewards

I mean yes, but if he's already playing better than most of the other people at his elo, he could just as likely be hard stuck because his mmr has him losing almost twice as much lp as he's winning. Fixing your mmr takes more effort than just starting a new account.

My opinion (many won't appreciate this) : he don't deserve more if he's stuck bronze V. If he's stuck there he's not better than other.

Take Thunderlords and aim for a pre 6 kill by trading and dodging while maintaining CS. Take out the other laner a few times, then shove wave and try to Gank bot and take the power there too if possible. If bot is feeding, just push Mid tower. summoner 4 to finish them after poking down.

Ward sides and be aware of where their JG is.

If your team is winning, play safe until you scale.

Late game, focus on surviving while trying to burst down the BACKLINE. Focus on building damage and CDR.

Glass cannon mages scale well and late game, with good positioning, have the damage and the CDR to kill 2 to 3 enemies per battle.

Biggest step you can take is self coaching. The lack of this held me in bronze and the moment I figured it out I started to climb.

Basically you ruthlessly criticise your performance to figure out what you've done wrong. The important thing here is to ignore your team mates. Even if the Zed clearly MISSED EVERY SINGLE SKILL WHILE ULTING!, you need to ignore that and think "what could I have done to ensure this guy got the kill". Say you picked sej, you may have missed your ult (Zed couldn't hit a moving target when you could have provided an immobile target)

Example case you're the jungler, you gank bot lane but it fails and you die. Now we don't know what went wrong but that works in my favour here. If you ever fail a gank, that is they don't burn a summoner/die or you come out even/behind on kills. Then you must think over the situation and figure out EVERYTHING that you could've done wrong.

In this case: you may have pinged "on my way" too late and bot wasn't ready to support you, river/your jg may have been warded (you got counter ganked or they got away) and you didn't sweep or use a control ward to check, you didn't check your team mates mana/HP and they did not have enough to successfully support you, you missed vital skills, you ganked/dove a fed champion which 2v1'd you, you didn't take into account their summoners/mana/heals during a dive and died, you forgot summoner 4 was on cooldown and died to a dive.

Failed ganks: you tried to gank Fiora Leblanc Fizz without seeing them use their mobility first, you bbysit a difficult to gank lane wasting time, you came in at a bad angle, missed skills, were spotted on a ward (solution=sweeper+control ward), team mate had no mana, you had low mana. THE LIST IS ENDLESS!

.

.

We do many many many things wrong every game. I still make many of these mistakes despite being fully aware of it because it's so hard to be consistent in not making them. But the moment you start recognising these mistakes, never blaming any team mates ever and working at eliminating these flaws, you will improve by leaps and bounds :)

How to get out of bronze:

  1. Farm
  2. Gank
  3. Hide in enemy brush to surprise gank
  4. Ward

You have too many "mains."

I "main" support and play Janna, Veigar, Taric (hah my poor WR) alright. But yea there is no way you can play that many champions proficiently. I recently was placed back into jg which I haven't done in awhile and it just showed. I don't play that role enough to be a competent jungler.

TheSingularity2 votes

If they were all for one role I'd agree with you. However it does not hurt to have a few champions in every lane he's comfortable in playing in case he gets auto filled. He already said he plays jungle and support more than the other lanes so he likely gets sufficient time on the champions he needs. Discouraging him from having a large champion pool will only hinder him long term

I main every single fat champ in the game that can jungle/top, I enjoy and that fits in the meta: Amumu Braum DrMundo Gragas Hecarim Illaoi Ivern Kled Malphite Maokai Nautilus Nunu Olaf Poppy Rammus RekSai Renekton Rumble Sejuani Sion Singed Skarner TahmKench Trundle Udyr Vi Volibear Warwick Yorick Zac

As you can see the champion pool is vast but I can play every one as well as the next. His Ivern Sejuani jungle selection is just like his Lulu Leona support combo. Despite the fact this gives him 4 main they all play very similarly. Hell he could add half of my champ pool to his jungle pool and they'd all do the same thing. Allowing him to have a vast champion pool with different little niches to suit different situations.

MysterQ1 votes

Just dodge for the day, the-3 LP. Play again later. In low ELO he really shouldn't have that many problems. I mean he can choose a champion and play safe. I can go top and play Nasus. But I am not going to say I am confident on Nsus like I am support veigare. I won't even say I am confident mid veigar as I am support veigar. They are completely different.

Dokkaebi2 votes

Downvoted because of Veigar support.

MysterQ1 votes

That's fine. If you only want traditional supports then go for it. Veigar has great zoning and a great stun for teamfights. He can naturally scale his AP while still building support items. His poke is ok.

You are right his utility is purely a stun, damage, and items. But his damage can be quite nice. His stun is amazing. Plus hearn does get vision with his Wife. The biggest problem is more if your team gets passed if you steal or secure kills. But any kill is better than no kill.

I found focusing on your mains helps a lot. You of course need to be prepared to play every role, but I find the best way to climb is to focus on champs you know well and can play well.

I got out by last season by maining a single champion and playing lots and lots of games. You have to play hundreds of ranked games to stand a chance. If you expect to climb out in only a couple hundred games or less, don't bother. You have to play close to a thousand games and you will eventually climb out. It took me around 1200 ranked games It's that simple.

JuhnChan1 votes

Ouch, you chose Support and Jungle as your mains?

IMO, Support is the lowest impact role in bronze elo. And Jungle is currently considered the lowest impact role in high elo. I'd say it's still low impact in bronze elo since the level and gold income you access as a jungler is really, truly abysmal. But that aside.

I see you are Bronze V, 160 ranked matches played. I also see that you like playing all 5 roles. That's great. However, I also see you having <70 farm in a 24 minute game. As the ADC. Ouch. Most people would tell you to practice your CS, and they're definitely not wrong, but you know what? Practice what you like. There are so many things out there that you can improve on.

Start by yes, practicing CS.

Practice looking at the map more and relaying information to your team.

Practice playing ONE champion for 100 games. I notice you have 45 unique champions played in ranked this season but your top played is Sona at 20 games. You might want to try playing a champion for more than one or two games in a row in order to get a DEEP understanding of how they work. Back in Season 4 I literally only played four champions. Caitlyn ADC, Annie MID, Sion SUP, Warwick JG. That's it. Literally nothing else. If you checked my OP.GG you would have seen only 4 champs played all season (don't check though, since it was a different account). But I knew those four champions like the back of my hand, and they carried me to Platinum. Learning a single champ teaches you more about the nuances of item building and objective prioritization. Which might just help you with understanding why it's not a good idea to build item 3147 and item 3153 on Caitlyn against a zero tank team. Just make sure not to one-trick as hard as I did... Reworks are around every corner.

Practice playing a lot of champions! It sounds contradictory to my last point, but really! Playing lots of champions forces you to use your general game knowledge of rotating, playing safe, playing from a disadvantage, objective control, warding, using your map, etc. rather than specific champion knowledge. Knowing these general things are much, much more important imo, especially when climbing to ratings you've never been to before, whether that be Diamond or Silver.

But anyway, it's way past my bedtime. I don't know why I type so slow but it's already 30 minutes past my bedtime. I wish I had faster fingers. Curses! (Fun fact I hated essays in high school because a two page paper would take me literally 4-6 hours. Anyway. Good night and good luck on the Rift)

with the supports in back line i hope this isn't chosen because of "win-rate" statistics because you should just pick a champ that mostly suites your play style and team needs

The thing I dont do in silver as much as I should to climb and what most people dont do in bronze-silver is roam to other lanes and farm up (especially when behind). As a support, you can coordinate in chat with your jg and roam to mid to pull a 3 man gank and get another laner of yours ahead. In the end you can only do so much yourself, so the best thing for you to do is to spoon feed your teammates and get them enough kills that they have the gold they need to just deny their lane opponent. You wont win every game, but you will win more by roaming.

1.Ward 2.Cs 3.Get picks(don't be stupid of course and try to 1v3 or 1v2 if you're not that powerful enough yet). Got out of bronze about 2 weeks ago with my boy Azir. Just love that 3 shot then procing thunderlords and killing a soraka with him in the late game.

Just spam a brain dead champion like XinZhao or MasterYi in jungle. At least that's how I got out of bronze.

be honest u struggling, 200 game in bronze V is struggling.

However, I am capable of playing all roles just fine

no u aren't.

so now, keep in mind u are learning the game :

  • start by choosing 2 role
  • choose 2 champ (its better if these 2 champ can be played on 2 role) ex : Xayah Ziggs played mid & adc/apc
  • learn to build them (u can look at op.gg or probuild, but don't mobafire).
  • spam these 2 role and these 2 champ.
  • don't play fiora/yasuo/riven/lee sin...
  • dont give ur role to x player just because he ask
  • dont take x champ because "x ask u to" "he's op" "y streamer played him".
  • keep ur cool, disable the all chat, if your mates begin to flame (idc if its against you or among themself) mute them (or /muteall)

Play Darius top, kill your laner, farm and split til 15-20, then roam until you're team snowballs. Baron and win. It's not really that hard.

Honestly man imo the best thing to do is play carry roles in every position. Is you main support/jg I would try Zyra/brand for support and maybe just Elise/amumu jg I was hard stuck in bronze 4 as a support main and brand and zyra got me to gold 4 by end of my first season. Rush rylais after eye and boots and you'll crush lane. Snowballing bot lane ensures two people out of 5 are ahead and 2 enemies are behind. I was a jg main first but it got me nowhere because I didn't have the game knowledge to back it up. Bottom line is you can't rely on teammates at that Elo

Quinn Jungle, just gank every 10 seconds post level 6 and watch as the enemy team falls apart as they shift blame.

Arcus Diabolus1 votes

The simplest way to get play better is to understand that not dying is more important than getting kills. Only engage in fights when you are certain you will win. If you cannot fight without risking a death, roam and do something else. Focus on farming and warding whenever the opportunity presents itself and maintain total map awareness.

Catastrop1 votes

Drop the support role, pick up Midlane. Find a few champions who you feel comfortable on and can perform above average on and stick to them, it's even better if they're high damage, high safety carries. Ahri Syndra Velkoz Xerath are examples of this. Practice good CS'ing, if you can get at least 70 by 10 minutes regardless of circumstance you're pretty much set. Remember that staying alive is more important than getting that kill, and remember to ward. Take this thread as a reference on proper warding. https://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/gameplay-balance/TomNuh3f-learn-how-to-ward-properly ROAM!!

For the jungle role, I can't really give you much advice there as I don't play the role myself.

I got out fairly easily i started in b3 and i've placed like 70 games in all rn (in s5) you have to try to work with your team and don't give up. For example had a vayne that farmed for 40 mins wouldn't tf had lost 2 towers was arguing with her support janna so the whole game we didn't try to force anything the 3 of us waited it out, farmed, poked disengaged until that vayne finally came and helped. This was the last game for my s5 promos and while i was pissed I didnt say any of my thoughts in chat, I would only ping objectives tell people to ward if i didnt have any and to prep other objectives thats it Most of the time in bronze people try to force their teammates to do whatever and then get mad when it doesn't go the way they expected. Also before you do anything plan in your hand why you are doing that and what abilities you should be looking out for and stuff like that it helps you than just going with the flow since you at least have some type of plan with what you're going to do.

Also dude above me has some solid advice seeing as i mostly played viktor in bronze or support
