Champions that Nobody(Or Very Few) Play: Zyra Rework Idea
There are so many champions in League that many people either love, hate, played, ignored, etc. And of course, people have given thoughts that certain champions need Reworks. We have Nunu coming soon as well an update to Ezreal, Kayle and Morgana. But I wanted to address some of my ideas for some of the Champions that I think either need reworks or update. Staring with Zyra since she was a recent one I played and realized how bad she is. Anyway, this is all came from brain storming and I wrote it down and I wanted to see people opinions on it and what they think she needs/doesn't need. Edit:I haven't played the old Zyra so some things may be similar to before the changes she received which some of the skills are inspired by
Passive - Essence of Life All creatures share a life source with each other and Zyra preys on it. Killing any champion, large monster, epic minion and cannon minion drops a Life Essence. Zyra can pick the essence up and increases the damage, health and range of her plants. Cannon minions drop 1 essence. Large monsters drop 2. Champions and epic monsters drop 5. Zyra's plants also have spellvamp scaling with AP
Q - Thorn Ring Zyra summons a thicket of thorns that forms a circle around the casted area. Any enemy champions that pass through this thicket will be slowed and take damage and bleed for 2 seconds for their current health scaling with AP If any plants are nearby when activated, a Thorn Spitter is summoned
W - Infestation Zyra can plant a seedling in the ground or on a enemy. If planted in the ground, Zyra can use one of her abilites to summon a plant. If she infests an enemy and the enemy dies, it summons a Thorn Spitter that attacks nearby champions or minions if Zyra attacks them while spreading other seedlings to other enemies.
The plants summoned by killing minions are weaker and last for a few seconds. Plants summoned by killing a champion will spawn one as if it was planted in the ground. Allied champions can trigger these plants.
E - Wild Grasp Zyra roots herself to the ground while rooting a nearby enemy champion. Both champions can't move and Zyra summons two Spine Leeches that drain the enemy's health and convert the damage dealt to Zyra's health.
If Zyra uses another ability or attacks the enemy rooted, the root ends and the Spine Leeches disappear. Zyra is also slowed once the ability ends for 3 seconds.
_R - Nature's Monstrosity _ Zyra roots herself and channels for 4 seconds. Once she reactivates the ability or channels for 4 seconds, she is swallowed into the ground and re-emerges wherever she has targeted as a giant plant. When she spawns, two enrage Thorn Spitteers and Spine Leeches are spawn with her, attacking anything near them. Zyra can also cast a improved version of one of her abilities. She is still rooted and will change back depending on how long she has channeled. She can also reactivate the ability when she arrives to end it.
Improved Q - A smaller but impassable thicket of thorns is created
Improved W - Spawns an additional Thorn Spitter and Spine Leech
Improved E - Changes to a skillshot that can root multiple enemies
Thorn Spitter - One of Zyra's plants that has long range and high damage, but attacks very slowly and heals Zyra for a small amount
Spine Leech - One of Zyra's plants that has short range and low damage, but attacks very fast and heals Zyra for a moderate amount.
The idea I wanted to go for Zyra was a creature that thrived from living creatures. I wanted to think that all the creatures whether it be human, yordle or some other creature or monster at least all shared one common life source and Zyra grew stronger and spread her plants by consuming that source of life. Since they share this life, I figured it would make sense that Zyra stole that life energy or in game terms, Spell Vamped the enemies health. But while she healed any damage she dealt, she should also be somewhat immobile as well, acting as a mage/tank hybrid while also having some cc for support or using her plants and infesting the monsters to jungle. She should be strong by using her plants as her main tools of harass while her abilites provided the cc needed for her plants to take advantage of it while also making her slow and give her high cool downs to make her vulnerable when her plants were down. Zyra should be a creature that could trap you and slowly take your life away, only showing her true colors through her ult when the time was right to swallow her prey. Her passive acting as a reminder that as the match goes on, the more stronger her and her plants get. Some of the inspiration came from other champions. Malzahazr with his visions and minions. Tahm Kenches ult except with a more dangerous touch to it, her Q similar to Yoricks wall while her E I wanted to keep but make it feel like it was more...plant like "root"ing you to the ground rather than leave it as a normal root.
