Permitting 5-man parties to queue Ranked solo might have it's drawbacks....

But my god it beats the ever-loving shit out of dealing with 4 randomly picked strangers where 90% of the games you'll be forced to endure one of the following miserable-as-fuck situations:

  • Champion Select trolls; ie - 4th/5th pick players saying "mid or feed" then pick disco Nunu and force nice players to dodge/lose LP
  • Carry's that disconnect as soon as the game starts only to never return
  • Players that rage quit after giving up first blood via AFK or Rage Quit disconnect
  • Players that go insta toxic when any lane or jungle struggles early
  • Players that refuse to leave their lane b/c they haven't died yet or are even while the other 4 teammates aren't doing well dealing with 4v5's b/c the opposing top laner actually uses his teleport to secure objectives and join in team fights instead of just using it to return top to cs
  • Infinite other reasons why these people go toxic and type 'gg im done' b/c something didn't go their way

I'll be MUCH happier playing with 5 friends who won't put me through that grinder of bullshit every ranked game of my life.

Bring it the fuck on.

And it's going to be 100% worse for me being the odd one stuck in a constant queue of 4 mans. ugh.

But you don't need the same group of 4 to play in rank 5's. You can have substitutes as well to offset when people can't show up. And if they're still your friends wouldn't they have a spot for you next season which would make all of this moot? I don't really play solo q because i don't enjoy it often but i don't see the benefit of matching solo/duo players against teams. It's really just asking for the randoms to get curb stomped if everyone is around the same skill level.

Most of this isn't specific to group queues, and individually have their own solutions (such as Leaver Buster which significantly reduced afk's, and Instant Feedback punishments for toxic people), or in the case of people trolling because they didn't get their role is no longer much of a problem because it will be Team Builder Draft and their role will already be set.
