Clarification of patch note

Recent Patch note excerpt:

"When Brand’s E - Conflagration spreads to nearby enemies after hitting an ablaze target, the spread damage no longer counts as a single-target spell"

How does this affect Brand differently than before in game play?

Deathfire touch applies the full burn for single target 1/2 for AOE. Thats one example
