Alistar Keystone Masteries (Question for Ali Mains) + Top/Jungle Masteries Meta

I've been using Bond of Stone on this big fella, but, today, I checked the keystone mastery of G2's support, Hybrid, and, uhm, just check this out.

Now, Hybrid isn't some random player, he's actually a part of a pretty good team. At this point, anything could change but G2 is one of the best EU LCS teams at the moment, along with H2K and a few more. But the guy took Windspeaker's Blessing. I understand why he'd do that, but, uhm, I find it very weird that he did it. I feel as Alistar Alistar is more focused around being a, well, tank, but I see why he would take this, though, the question is, which one is better:

Now, I also found one more interesting thing that I wanted to mention. Looking at top, it seems as Grasp of the Undying is the thing that's shaping the meta up there on top. Fiora Fiora isn't even that tanky yet she still got the mastery. It's funny that even Gangplank Gangplank mid took the mastery, which is understandable seeing how he can abuse it.

One more thing that some people noticed, Strenght of the Ages is a go-to mastery for all junglers now, it looks like, seeing as Nidalee Nidalee also took it, which seems weird at first but is pretty efficient. It seems like the meta on top and in the jungle are shaped by these two masteries.

I'd love to know which mastery you would take on Alistar Alistar, and it'd also be nice if you could give me some thoughts on the new 'meta' that's being shaped on top and in the jungle. Have a wonderful day.

They are still playing on 6.2 if I recall right. In 6.3 Riot nerfed his heal. I wouldn't be surprised if this trend slows or stops completely. Also its conditional. If you are mainly trying to survive lane its good to just farm, but if you have the advantage its not that great of a keystone for ali.

This was probably the most useful answer, I think I'll choose my Keystone depending on my ADC, Ali is a good support for both passive and aggresive lanes so I'll choose the Mastery depending on my ADC's playstyle.

I tried in in 6.3 and while noticeable the nerf isn't that bad. it's only mana after all and I generally rush a mana item anyway.

Windspeaker isn't that great in Lane although it makes both of you able to take more in Trades. But it really shines in Teamfights as it turns your Heal into another item 3190

His E CD and mana were nerfed this last patch. This makes it even better to take Windspeaker's Blessing (as support). That tree has the 45% CDR cap with 5% CDR bonus.

Alistars older kit has a weird structure compared to a modern Tank, which makes him pretty versatile.

His high Health and Heal make him scale well with defenses. His Ult makes him scale well with Health and his Heal. His abilities, especially Heal and Ult make him scale well with AP. His AoE Heal lets him abuse Heal Effects.

This makes roughly four stiles to play him:

Full Tank with Bond of Stone and item 3025 item 3065 amazing at Diving and taking Towers, but there is not much reason to focus him in Teamfights.

Off Tank with Grap of the Undying, and AP/Health, or AD/Health items. This makes for a hard to kill threat, but needs more Gold, better for Jungle and Top.

Bruiser. Full AP/Defences and Bond of Stone or Windspeaker, item 1414 item 3100 item 3001 great damage and heal, really fun in the Jungle.

Support with Windspeaker and summoner 7 item 3401 item 3222 item 3504 This is what I prefer Bot as it practically makes you Soraka, but harder to kill.

if u wanna go full pro on, depends on how u play and the matchup your adc bla bla all this stuff but who fucking cares just pick what you like

i like windspeaker because i play less offensive so i heal me and adc and sometimes max heal in poke lanes

I always played more offensively, I feel like I should choose my keystone depending on my ADC. Hm, thank you, your answer was very helpful!

For top it would be grasp, you should look up his toplane build from season 5. Think ot was triforce statik into tank items.

Support is a toss up between windspeakers and bond of stone, pick whichever you want.

Igglet1 votes

Yeah, I knew that, but the problem is, I wasn't sure which one of those two masteries is better, but other replies kinda explained it to me. Thanks anyways!

Why Statik though? Waveclear? in that case in season 6 Rageblade would probably be a better choice for Ali.

Idk for sure that was what they built

Alistar already has his ult for tanking and he pretty much always engages with it up. Bond of stone is just ok on him but with Windspeaker you give everyone nearby some armor/mr and it makes his heals be a little bit better. The entire point of getting Grasp of the Undying is to have some form of healing during the laning phase and on prolonged fights, you don't need to be a tank to get it. Anyone who wants a little extra sustain in lane and likes prolonged fights is going to find some use out of it

Mhm, alright then!
