If an upgraded trinket is worth more than one of your summoner spells

Then Clairvoyance might be viable to you because it is better than a blue trinket. If this is never the case, then Clairvoyance needs a buff. Can someone explain to be why this logic is flawed (if it is flawed, then my understanding of this game isn't as good as I thought it was).

I think Clairvoyance COULD be viable with Lux mid, Xerath mid, Ziggs mid, and Ezreal mid (maybe also potentially an adc with a global skill shot) and possibly at least 1 other mid if the logic in the 1st paragraph is flawless.

i think riot should replace it with spell that reveals invisible units

Summoner spells are valuable. Trinkets don't even cost any (unless you upgrade it, which is usually unnecessary with the blue trinket) and the cooldown is much less. The thing is, you only get two summoner spells and there are just way more valuable spells to have than clairvoyance, such as flash (which is usually a must) and ignite/heal/exhaust/teleport, which isn't something you can easily buy from the shop.

{{summoner:2}} is just an over all weak summoner spell. The summoner spells you lose out on are far more powerful.

Making the comparison of item 3363 vs {{summoner:2}} isn't great because the opportunity cost between summoner spells and trinkets are vastly different.

The problem is that flash is immovable and jungle/top/support all have somewhat required spells for their second slot. So then it's down to either the mid or the ADC to take clairvoyance, and giving up the combat spell in both cases is pretty painful. If anything, I'd expect the ADC (or support) to take clairvoyance, but I think it'll be hard to make that happen.

Devils Advocate here - I'll preface by saying I agree that Clairvoyance needs a change (or just removed) but there is a problem with your logic because it ignores several variables.

Which champions like Blue trinket? ADCs, Xerath, and Nocturne. ADCs are in a duo lane where heal is the meta because it heals both champions and gives a movement speed boost for safety. Xerath functions well with a large number of summoner spells, including ghost, heal, barrier, exhaust, and even ignite. Vision isn't really important to him until he gets his ult, and oftentimes summoner spells dictate lane phase before level 6. Ghost, ignite, heal, exhaust, barrier, and ignite could save his life or get him a kill before level 6 so they're all more valuable than the vision summoner. Nocturne is generally played in the jungle, where smite is a requirement. So Nocturne simply can't use Clairvoyance.

Flash is also generally considered a requirement for all of the above champions, which is why I left the second summoner spell option closed.

So based on the above, unless Clairvoyance gives combat stats or enhances mobility somehow, then it will never be used over flash or a combat-based summoner. It doesn't matter how much you buff it, because the other summoners will always be better by nature.

But an upgraded trinket is not worth more than one summoner spell (?) So Clairvoyance is better than a blue trinket. And everything is logical.
