RITO, stop balance base on toxic 'Balance' boards.

LOL hase 124 champions but how many champion have join LCS/LCK game? Exclude the surprise pick likes Teemo with 100% win rate in S3.

I only can see around 20 champions were played in competitive plays. The rest champions were not picked because RIOT removed them from champions pool, remember Evelynn /Kassadin /Olaf joke ? Those appear after RIOT nerf those champions to ground.

If RIOT buffs the weak champions to Hecarim tier, the pick rate will be splitted to all champions in that tier. I will use 100% 4 champions pool. Tier 1 champion: Hecarim, Maokai, Gnar Tier 2 champion: Galio People will see tier 2 champions are weaker than tier 1 champion, and havent no chance to win when they meet tier 1, so they wont pick tier 2 champions. So 100% people will pick tier 1 champion unless you want a Evelynn pick and each champions in tier 1 has 33% chance to be picked.

Tier 1 champion: 33% Hecarim, 33% Maokai, 33% Gnar Tier 2 champion: 0% Galio

Do same things after RIOT nerf 1 tier 1 champion to tier 2. Tier 1 champion: 50% Hecarim, 50% Maokai, Tier 2 champion: 0% Galio , 0% Gnar

Now, instead of nerf someone, they put tier 2 champions to tier 1. Tier 1 champion: 25% Hecarim, 25% Maokai, 25% Galio , 25% Gnar Tier 2 champion:

You can see the best result, every champions will have their place in team game.

I think the problem people have with constantly nerfing champions is that it's depressing as fuck.

Overbuff champion is more fair than over nerf tier 1. Over nerf only create more Evelynn tier until they got next remake, tell me how many champions can escape Evelynn tier without remake? Not mentions RIOT will destroy their identity ( green ward Evelynn , Karma who?)

Even if you delete tier 1 champions, you still can make new tier 1 champions list from lower tier.

WW OP due RIOT fail to forecast people abuse the itemization change, did WW got nerf after that patch ? No, they just gutted the true dmg of Skirmisher's Sabre, then WW back to his nowhere.

To make more sense, nerf champion didnt make low tier have their place, because you cant put "hard to place" champion to some place, because it is very hard.

Now, how many champions will be nerf for low pick champions like Taric were picked in LCS? Annie Soraka Sona ??? The problem is you need to sacrifice every champions for the weakest champion if you nerf every champion who are stronger than he/she.

O-o what are you talking about? Warwick got nerfed HARD. His w duration went down, his ult damage went down, and his best item got nerfed. He got harder direct and indirect nerfs than pretty much anyone got in one patch in the past year.

A champion wasnt picked for 2 season then suddenly RIOT confirm he is OP even he wasnt picked for 2 season ? As i said, its itemization issue, not the champion design.

You don't have to nerf for low pick champions to get picked, you just need to nerf the top tier down to the average power. That will allow the entire 50 or so mid tier champions into the meta along with the top tier and not limit everyone to picking the top 20-30 like they are now.

You cant nerf god tier champions like 3TWarrior said, what makes them god tier is their kid, you only can nerf a champion by lower number, if that method didnt work, the next step is remove skills function, which will destroy identity.

And RIOT said they cant nerf Leblanc more, because they cant remove any things in her kits, and if they lower number, she will be completely removed from game.

Now, back to support role, i will give you a puzzle.

Nerf Janna to make Taric viable, i believe you cant, because this is not number issue, its skill function, even Janna have 0 AP scale, ppl still pick her over Taric Janna can do any things that Taric can And Taric cant do what Janna can.

Which still doesn't change the fact that him getting overbuffed from an itemization change was far worse for the game than evelyn getting overnerfed. You can justify why he got strong all you want, the undeniable point is that he ruined far more games in one patch after getting overbuffed than eve did for a year when she got overnerfed. Nerfing as a balance tool is superior to buffing in league's current state.

That is not overbuffed, its item abusing like S3 ranged ADC uses every item which were design for melee ADC. That's why you see some item like item 3025 got 2 version for melee and range.

Actually you can. Ahri was got tier in 5.2 and got nerfed to a balance champion by straight number changes. Lissandra was a god tier champion both top and mid who got nerfed to a balance champion by straight number changes. Season 4 ziggs was at one point a god tier mid champion who got nerfed to a balanced champion by straight number changes. Corki was a god tier adc who got nerfed to a balanced champion by straight number changes. Post rework sion was a god tier top laner who got nerfed to a balanced champion by straight number changes. The list goes on and on,

Because the skill functions are still same, the nerf is unnoticeable, unless they torch the identity. Ahri: 3 dashs, charm Lissandra: 2 hard CC, slow blink, self-cast hourglass Corki: free 10% true dmg, dash. And all they lose is 30 dmg in 1 combo when everyone got 2k+ HP

Riot as a company never claimed that to be the case. Maybe one or two employees spoke out of line but if you haven't noticed, leblanc got a straight damage nerf the last time she was overpowered and will probably get another nerf if she continues to be problematic.

Pre-nerf: Delete support in 2 hits. Post-nerf: Delete support in 2 hits. Great nerf.

There is no need to nerf anyone to make a bottom tier champion viable. The entire point is to nerf the top tier champions to the power of an average champion. The bottom tier champions will still be underpowered but the number of viable champions has been greatly increased. As a balancing tool, nerfing the top tier champions down to the average power is far and away the best balancing tool riot has.

As i said, the nerf didnt make bottom tier champions can do what god tier champion do. Leblanc : Can delete champion in 1 combo, can escape with W. Talon : Can delete champion in 1 combo, die after doing combo.

Here is the list nerf you can do.

  1. Keep the LB's escape, cant kill any1 in 1 combo
  2. Remove the escape, and keep the delete combo.

1st method: she is nolonger assassin. Destroy assassin gameplay. 2nd method: she is nolonger assassin. Destroy unique gameplay. Both gives you a champion need another rework.

Giving champions an item that makes them stronger than they were without the item is the exact same thing as buffing them. A champion doesn't have to directly get changed to get a buff, they can be buffed in many ways including but not limited to:

  1. the champion's kit is directly made stronger
  2. other champions in the role are nerfed
  3. items are introduced which synergize better with their kit

If i am not that kind of champions, and can do better with that nerf item than the target champion You still cant stop i buy it .

And yet all of the champions listed from being overpowered to being balanced despite not losing their identity. This is why number nerfs are such a powerful balance tool. The skills function the same, the champions identity stays intact, but the champion goes from being overpowered to being balanced.

So what's wrong with this quote ? "you only can nerf a champion by lower number,** if that method didnt work**, the next step is remove skills function, which will destroy identity."

So she didnt get nerfed hard enough.

But there is no need to make bottom tier champions do what god tier champions do. The goal is to increase the pool of viable champions which only requires god tier champions to be nerfed to the strength of an average tier champion. Now, both previously mid and top tier champions are all of a sudden viable.

No one change will fix all of the balance problems league has. However, nerfs will improve the game far more than any other change in league's current condition. It is the best option riot has and needs to continue to occur if riot hopes to fix the balance problems.

MissFortune never can reach to Jinx /Lucian tier even they keep getting nerf or not being nerf enough.

the bell curve does explain the champion selections quite well, but the problem then becomes when the champions are closer to a straight line. As the champions become more similar in nature, the less interesting the game is, So, riot's testing team not only has to determine whether a champion really is toxic to play against, but then hand test each proposed value until the playerbase is satisfied as a whole

kassadin cries now because he can't use his ult instantly on a helpless target until they're deleted

the bigger issue is that characters with higher damage values, more crowd control, higher range, and higher survivability take priority over other champions but at the same time, likely need at least 3 of those things to make it into the God Tier

we're all looking at you Gnar Gnar

gnar: gnar gnar!

yeah, he doesn't even know he's op because he has every trait required to survive in this game INCLUDING that he's manaless

need farming? no problem, stay at max range and hit both the opponent and all of their minions with one boomerange toss and cut its cooldown to 10 seconds by catching it. need an escape? just hop away. need damage? he does at least 10% of your max hp every 3 hits. need crowd control? mega gnar slows and stuns. need survivability. mega gnar has the highest base hp stats and increased armor and magic resist

his only downside is that he transforms without consent of the player, but once in melee range, becomes a reset monster as bad as Tristana with his Q boulder being picked up and stuns to aid his high damage builds

as an add on to my original comment, I wonder how much riot actually tests their champions? I posted in another thread about how Reksai could fight whole teams at level 1-3 when she was first released. They changed the damage on her E when she uses mostly her Q and W for damage, but somehow, it worked and she is still a "god tier" pick, but not able to just do as she pleases anymore

They don't balance purely off balance boards.

You may now continue with your nonsensical rhetoric.
