Why to chose between ranked and normal? They should merge and make LOL more fun to play

In my opinion current ranking and game type system is very primitive and causes players to get angry, lose will to play, rage on other players and get bans. So what is the problem? This is from my experience: -> If you play normal summoners rift PvP than you will meet players who don't care (it's not ranked, who cares they say) and they will troll/feed/afk... and if you play that game type you wont have progress in game, only some ip and mastery points. -> If you play ranked summoners rift PvP than it will be game of luck (will i get decent players or "who cares" type of players) and what you get from that? If you win, decent game. If you lose, you will get punishment (-LP), you will get angry, you might get ban because of anger, you will lose will to play...

so what could be solution?

Game where victory raises players rank (based on performance and grade) and where lost game don't punish player in any way. What can this change?

  1. Players will try their best to win game and progress through rank and won't be in "who cares" mood in "normal" games (because normal games will also be ranked IF you win)
  2. Lost game will not be stress full and wont punish players (game should not punish players in any way, it should be fun)
  3. Ranking wont be based on luck but instead it could track your performance through stats and grades (currently you can have S+, amazing score, positive influence on others, team work... but still fall in rank and get -LP !?!?!?)
  4. You would not have to chose (hmmm am i ready for ranked now or maybe better to play normal and not risk, but normal is full of trolls and i don't get any progress), just play and enjoy!
  5. Trolls can still get reports and bans, but they wont make other players lose their progress (trolling business will suffer)

Instead many small divisions there could be other way, for example bronze is in range from 100 LP to 1500 LP (additional requirement to go from bronze to silver is 200 LP from each of 5 roles), silver from 1500 LP to 5000 LP ( and 500 LP from each role for gold division) and so on. Player would need to get enough total LP and certain amount of LP from all 5 roles, currently everyone want to play as assassin and almost no one want / need to play as support. This way progress will be slow, hard to get (only wins count + performance) and will require from player to play all roles, but will be certain (good players will get there sooner, others will get there latter and will get better by that time).

You go into Normals to practice new champions, builds, and strategies. You go into Ranked to put those new things to the test and see how well they work.

If you go into Ranked practicing something new, you risk losing it for yourself and your 4 teammates who are trying their best to win, meanwhile you are basically messing around.

If there is no punishment for losing, people will still troll and not care, because they do that anyways even when there is a punishment.

"If there is no punishment for losing, people will still troll and not care, because they do that anyways even when there is a punishment." They do it now and they will do it than, but good players wont get punished, that is big difference! Solution for everyone is better than endless war.

But then there is no incentive to actually try if a game looks like it is going south. Might as well surrender at 20 and get into the next game where hopefully the enemy will surrender at 20. Plus why should someone who has lost 20 games in a row, not be dropped a couple tiers? There are people who get super lucky and get carried in all their games and end up at a rank not representative of their true skill. The way the current system works is if that person stops getting carried they will fall.

I mean, they kinda already did that when the remove Normal Draft in certain regions.

If Rank was a game mode all in itself, people would play ranked whenever they wanted to play draft pick, pretty much regardless of the presence or absence of a ranked ladder.

But the real thing is, noobs, trolls, and others, really don't have that much of an impact on the ladder. Simply put it, the odds of winning due to a noob/troll on the enemy team, is equal and opposite. So there is not statistical validation on their negative impact on the ranked latter, and those who claim otherwise, are only looking at their teams stats, and not seeing the whole picture.

Of coarse the real problem is the experience. Regardless of statistics, it feels bad when a noob/troll ruins your game. Now Riot, doesn't really care about noobs in ranked game. In fact, I would suspect that they want to make Ranked slightly more casual and friendly, removing the cut throat attitude of competing for rank. Personally, I play ranked because I'm curious how I compare to everyone else, but I do so without the need in competing for rank. And it pains me when people accuse me of being a troll, simply because I'm not OCD about rank, or that I can enjoy a game regardless of whether I win or lose.

Though on the other hand, Real, malevolent trolls are an experience problem. But Riot doesn't take favoritism (at least shouldn't) with the ranked Q in that regard. They don't view Ranked as this sacred space of ritual combat, they want the mode to be open and friendly. Trolls generally arn't friendly.
