Suggestion: A ping for "Warded"

I value warding. A lot. No vision, less strategic options.

However, when I want to inform my jungler about a warded bush or teammates who're standing on top of a ward, I have to go to the keyboard and type it out. Otherwise, my other option is the danger/caution pings, which are effective but usually can't get the "warded" message across.

I would like a ping for "warded". Not just an exclamation, or a super exclamation, but straight up "warded". It would save time, concentration resources, and my @$$ from having to type it out, not to mention it'll get a clear message across that everyone's been spotted.

Pros: Less typing, more doing, better communication. Edit: It could also potentially act as an intro to warding, see here for the rant.

Cons: Potential trolling with ward ping, etc that I can't think of.

Any thoughts?

Although i agree with your idea 100% i'm ashamed to tell you, you are not the first to post this suggestion on the boards. IIRC Riot hasn't posted once on one of these suggestions so i wouldn't get my hopes up.

Sorry, man. :(

Yes, please. That, and a "vision needed" ping (I know, "ward it yourself, ya lazy bum", but what if I don't have a farsight trinket or Ashe E?) would be great additions.

I'd use such a ping. As a support main, I'm always trying to let my adc and jungler know where the enemy wards are. It would save me precious seconds if I could ping wards instead of pausing to type.

Absolutely, would be nice to have.

It would help if we got the old warding totem back and people other than the support could drop real wards.

To some of the comments saying there should be two pings, one for "ward here please" and one for "this place has been warded by an enemy," I think you only need one. You can use other pings to be more specific.

You can combine the "Ward here" ping. If you just ping that, then you're asking somebody to ward there. If you combine the ping with a "danger" ping right afterwards, you're saying there's an enemy ward there. If you want to know if a bush is warded, you could use a "ward here" ping followed by a "enemy missing" question mark ping.

I'd love to see this ping in the game.

I support this idea and I feel like it's something that's been needed for a long while.

Usually I use the default ping to use for wards, however I also use it for just about everything else in the heat of the moment. So having a defined " Hey, this is warded" alert would be nice. Instead of a slew of ambiguous default pings you have a more defined feedback for your team when you spot one of those eyes on a stick, next to baron, when trying to communicate to target the jungler and AD carry.

Instead of PING PING PING looking like you're a nervous wreck saying "GET BARON HOLY CRAP! GET BARON!"

It'll look more like Warded Red Bush, Go around behind Krugs! Target ADC and/or Jungler! Steal Baron!

I would propose a "Ward Green" Type of color (RIP Stealth Wards) To indicate an empty place for warding (telling your team to drop a ward) and when targeting an enemy ward it turns to a "Vision Pink"type of color, saying that there is an enemy ward there. Of course the downfall is that you need to have seen the ward yourself, which makes you then visible by the enemy team, but at least you aren't spamming the <!> in a futile attempt to save your team's actions being thwarted as your entire team stumbles into a warded bush.

This would be nice, but i also can't count the many times i tell my team a spot is warded..and they don't read chat...and die for it..lool

nobody listens to "Be Careful" or "Danger". but pings like "Warded" might rly help. if only rito would listen to the useful suggestions

YES! 1,000 times yes! There really does need to be a "warded" ping. Make it big and green and some chime sounds or something. All I know is that this would be infinitely useful. Such a feature would be used in every game I'm certain.

When suggested before, one of the most common issues brought up is that the ping wheel we currently have will quickly get crowded. However, that doesn't mean that we can't add entirely separate ping wheels to other keys. I think something like that would be warranted here. The pings we have can get a lot of information across, but there's a few more specific cases (like this one) where having something like that would be extremely useful. Other good pings would be "Summoners Down" or "Attack/Advance."

Yeah, right now I do the blue ping and type in chat "warded" but that seems pretty clunky and i don't really like having to chat period because i could be mid typing and have a sudden need to react to something. A specific ping for it could be nice.

I have found myself wanting this quite often. Most frustrating is when there is a pink ward that could easily be destroyed in a brush but I can't reach it, either because I am dead or was driven off (squishy supports know their placement). just knowing it's there with teammates all around and no one doing anythinga bout it drives me insane. But I have no way to say "come kill this for me".

There is another con, more pings mean learning to understand more pings, and adding hotkeys for more pings. this makes an already absurdly complex game just a tiny bit more complicated, especially for the newbies. I think it's a minor expense, the one ping doesn't add that much to complexity and has some real value, but I still need to point out what I see as the biggest expense. You can't add 100 pings for every nuianced situation after all.

It would have been nice back when people had wards that lasted longer than a minute.
