Is it even worth trying to climb now?
Like actually should I just wait till season 10 when all these new updates take effect or attempt to adleast get to silver?

Get to silver at least. It's worth the effort i think.
Unless you're looking for a Victorious Skin from getting Gold and above, there is no reason you shouldn't look to climb, even in pre-season.
Simple Answer: No.
Problem: You've probably already started playing rank and already have a set MMR.
If you use it, you're VERY likely to get trolled right now, because every single game is a bunch of headless players inting/feeding/making games go so fast that the average gold per game is plummeting on losing teams down to 5-7k gold before they lose their nexus.
If you don't use it, you start down in Iron/Bronze and have to do it anyways from a much lower point.
Seriously doubt you can get gold at this point. Natural end of year forces are at work.
If you do play, like the other player said, just get to silver for fun. You MIGHT start silver next season if you do.
