@Meddler Elise is currently sitting at a 46% winrate and 2.5% pickrate after buffs

@Meddler/any gameplay member,

It seems Elise has dropped drastically in performance after her buffs went live for approximately two patches now. I thought they would be enough but It seems Elise in general just struggles in the meta, even if we returned some power she lost. Not only is she outclassed by much more dominant AP junglers, countered by a number of AD junglers, but overall she's pretty weak on the scale of things in general.

The W buff early was a nice QoL fix to her "can't kill mini krugs with AoE spell" annoyance, mid-late game its not a huge difference (her W used to do 75-275 (+50 per rank) base damage while now it starts 60-240 (+45 per rank but starting at -15 from original), granted though this was a step in the right direction for a buff.

The MS was nice but paired with the celerity nerf in the same patch, it calculates exactly as losing 5 MS so it evens out. Nonetheless, without MS on runic this was a necessary change to give Elise her base speed back. Nothing game changing though.

When we talked 1 on 1, I suggested giving her AD base since she lost AD during worlds patch and that was at the time when Elise ran 9 Marks of Attack Speed runes, now she doesn't get those, doesn't take percision runes (shouldn't), and machete doesn't give attack speed either. So her DPS dropped in both damage and attacks per second.

So my suggestion is to potentially look at her DPS either by; (not all of these of course, mostly suggestions)

  • increasing her base attack damage (preferred, give us the 3 AD base)
  • increasing her skittering frenzy attack speed steroid bonus from | 60 / 80 / 100 / 120 / 140% | to | 70 / 90 / 110 / 130 / 150% |, for comparison she got +15% for free from runes/machete so giving her 10% on the condition of her W uptime seems fair to me. iirc some junglers like nocturne and yi got attack speed compensations to make up for losing machete's attack speed, so why not Elise?
  • increasing the base damage of her passive in spider form from | 10 / 20 / 30 / 40 | to | 12 / 24 / 36 / 48 |
  • Moving the steroid bonus from her Rappel to her Skittering Frenzy or moving it from her Rappel to her human Q (targets hit by her human Q take 40 / 50 / 70 / 85 / 100% of spider form's bonus healing and damage.)

I personally vote for increasing AD and the skittering frenzy buff combined, but I kinda want to see the steroid of rappel moved somewhere else, I rarely ever see it used intentionally and I assure you as a 2 million MP Elise player I've only considered that bonus of Rappel in about 5 scenarios intentionally. I feel it'd open up some power budgetting if it was either removed or moved else where. Just seems odd to place a steroid on an ability you'd use to cancel an ability, chase, or escape, as for in combat, i mostly only use it to auto reset or stall for another venomous bite if there isn't a vital spell I need to stall out or cancel.

I understand Elise is a champion that can really bounce back into a meta, but seeing how she has been rotating between tier D and F despite the cocoon changes, bite changes, W and MS changes, Echoes Changes, and considering what the rest of the meta looks like, I feel like we can go a little harder on the buffs, if you need to revert a change because its too much, that's fine, but anything is better then 46%.

One suggestion with unanimous agreement from Elise mains is buffing her human form Q, but IMO that wouldn't fix what has changed since her last spotlight in the meta (DPS), it'd only buff her burst and I think her burst is fine, her DPS clear speed/dueling against units she can't burst (or champs that take nullifying orb) is what really sucks in comparison.

EDIT: ironically an hour after making the post her winrate went up to 47.95. Regardless its been going up and down between 46-48 which isn't really ideal.

Oh yes, more damage! The best way to fix a champion is to give it more damage!!!!!!!!

Especially when people are complaining about one-shots.

No, elise doesn't need buffs. They should nerf the stronger junglers, and elise will get stronger.

Kindred does not need anymore help.

Meddler believes they've over buffed her.

elise kindred and graves are absolute aids to play against when they are meta and they have all been meta for far too long.

I agree that Elise needs more buffs to compete in this retarded duelist/scuttle crab meta that Riot has created and wasn't needed (scuttle wasn't needed, jungle just needed to be balanced out experience wise with solo laners).

This meta hasn't "created diversity" at all and has a lot of the AP junglers underperforming. Elise is a higher difficulty jungler to master as well so dividends should pay out for the more skill you have which currently isn't happening due to meta/underbalanced.

Another example of an underperforming jungler tho AD is RekSai with a global 0.6% pickrate and 46.4% winrate. Pretty sad to see the more difficult to master junglers so low in pick and winrate due to 8.10/8.11 mistakes you made.

Btw Runic could stay the same while adding some ms back onto it and won't throw AP junglers overpowered especially compared to the duelist meta we are in.

I love Elise, and she sucks. Even the speed buff does nothing to help. Doing objectives with her is even weak compared to other junglers, and that used to be a relative strength. Definitely needs better base attack speed. Also she needs a keystone that really translates to her better than others. She can definitely use Electrocute, but most use a lot it better. One potential thing to try is giving Human E 1 dmg to help trigger stuff. Lower mana cost or give her old-Eve like regen when in Spider form. Her role isnt to sort-of nuke people early, it is to be an early game nukers in combo with her strong E; that also has solid objective control. Her kit was never the best late and she is relatively weekt early, hence they play/win rate. Melee auto attackers are late game carries in a fun/normal MOBA environment.

Tormentula, no. What are you doing?

If Riot buffs Elise she'll become meta again, people will complain about her again, the items that she builds will be nerfed again, she will be nerfed again, and she will most likely be reworked. I'm really not interested in seeing that happen.

Sounds quite realistic...

I don't know anybody that complains about Elise. (although is the first thread I made with anti-elise post.)

Fuck, in my 2 million mastery history I've only seen one player bitch about "gg elise pick", more often then not I see that for many champs atm.

Also Elise doesn't get items nerfed, Elise just suffers because AP itemization is often abused mid and support since junglers don't get many options, so when that shit gets hit from meta trends (haunting guise, rylais,) elise gets hurt too. Elise's versitility was cut when her numbers were dropped and GA was made AD (diver/offtank elise and support elise killed) and due to her low scalings she needs penetration itemization, making flat AP builds bad without any additional effects adding bonus base damage or DPS (decap, twin shadows, etc)

As for "she will be nerfed again/reworked", whats the difference from now.. she pretty much is nerfed. She's no season 4, but this is the weakest she's been since she was brought back in season 5.

Wouldn't mind her reworked, not necessarily in a kit overhaul, more like stuff moved around so she can itemize better, like fuck take power away from her kit and make Q do on-hit effects so lich is an option? Potentially Decap too to scale on the lich? I'm in.

I want Riot to buff Elise with a mini-rework like this:

Spiderlings apply Elise's on-hit effects on every 3rd attack.

Spider-form Q - Venomous Bite: Now applies on-hit effects twice

Human-form Q - Neurotoxin: Now applies damage over time and lowers the enemy's damage output, similar to challenging smite effect item 3715. This makes Elise good at prolonged skirmishes. The reduced damage output effect is very fitting, because the toxin is weakening its targets body, resulting in semi-paralysis and reduced cognitive function.

Human-form E - Cocoon: Can now be shot at walls to leave web traps (hitting a unit with it still applies the CC immediately). If enemies pass through the traps, they are snared and grounded for the regular stun duration while and Elise gains vision of them. This lets Elise weave her jungle into a spider nest, with her being aware of struggling prey caught in her webs. I think this would be very fitting thematically, and it would allow Elise to protect herself from counter-jungling somewhat and play more strategically.

With these changes, Elise could choose to build something like this: item 3047 item 1419 item 3115 item 3165 item 3091 item 3151 It could also be a good idea to change item 1419 to deal adaptive damage so that it works well in either AD or AP on-hit builds equally with either type of resistance penetration instead of being AD-centric.

Elise could also still use her regular mage build with item 1402 in situations where it would work. She would just now have the flexibility to build differently based on her needs in a particular game. If she had no tanky opponents, then the bursty mage build would probably work best in that particular game.

Korean numbers make this worse globally, Elise has always had a bigger playerbase in KR and much higher success rate, this is why Elise was banned in majority of high Elo games during season 6-7 KR, but only average in NA.

Koreas numbers if anything would be the best to go by for Elise, if those suck Elise is having it more rough globally.

Issue with Elise is that you buff her too much and she crowds out other junglers again, she's a difficult champ to balance.

Tormentula1 votes

Who's she really crowding though?

The only other AP junglers that were designed for jungle are Nidalee Fiddlesticks Evelynn Zac Nunu

Zac Nunu are really strong picks against Elise due to how well they can either counter jungle or counter gank her. We seen them a ton in season 7 when Elise was at her peak. Evelynn Nidalee are always around during Elise metas. In nid's case her and Elise both were contested at the same time. Not sure about new Eve, but old eve was definitely around during Elise's times. Fiddlesticks has more flaws then "isn't Elise" we still don't see him jungle with her being trash tier.

Taliyah Evelynn are currently crowding out all the other junglers too, so what difference is it having Elise again.

Yeah, I agree she can bounce really hard if they overshoot buff her, but I never really liked the "she crowds everything else" argument considering how different she is and how her most comparable picks that you'd expect her to replace thrive most during her metas. In theory it sounds true, but historically it never actually was.

What I would like to see with Skittering Frenzy (W) passively give Elise bonus attackspeed.

Passive - Elise and her spiderlings gain Bonus attack speed. 15%/30%/45%/60%/75% ( x2 for her spiderlings)

Active - Innate passive effects are doubled, as well as Elise's and her spiderlings bonus attack speed for 3 seconds. (This doubles bonus attack speed from all sources.) Still resets her auto attack timer.

  • Remove the passive buff from rappel.

Doesn't matter. She saw a year in the limelight, so she's doomed to be Kassadin-state for at least another entire season.

As a jungle main since S2, and one who lived through an entire horrific season of Lee-Elise-Vi dominance in the jungle (after which she was still stupidly powerful for another season), Elise is one of those junglers I don't mind being a bit too weak.

One of her biggest problems is being a ranged jungler with hard CC and large amounts of melee burst. Put bluntly, a stronger Elise would murder any melee who dared contest her scuttle crabs in the early game. This, as we all know, would lead to competent Elise players hard invading said melee junglers and.. Well, just shitting all over them. We've seen this before, and there's really no way to prevent it other than making sure her bases are low and scaling decent, which they both are right now.

Another problem is the dual nature of her kit. She's designed to be both a top and a jungler, so any buffs have the potential side-effects to spill over into top lane, creating another melee apocalypse which results in only ranged tops being viable.

Elise can never be a good champion with number changes because her kit is too powerful on its own.
