Normal URF was fun when no one had any idea which champ was broken and everyone would test new things It stopped being fun when Galio Hecarim Sona Brand Ezreal XinZhao was in every single game because players only cared about winning as fast as possible

We didn't deserve this mode. Making it random was the best decision Riot could do

agree not entirely sure why the regular map just sort of speed up is called urf... The regular map sped up is just kinda a cracked out summoners rift where everyone doesn't really have cool downs...

I still find mindboggling that they made ARURF because URF was too fun and people stopped playing when it stopped.

This is my suggestion on how to "fix" ARurf as best as I can tell.

  1. Introduce bans, one or two bans per player so that we can weed out the toxic shit no one likes.
  2. For ARurf and ARurf only do players Have ALL Champions unlocked for this mode. The prevents the ARAM account bullshit and artificially shrinking the pools of available champs to just the OP ones.
  3. Randomized Pools. What I mean by this is simple. Either generate a semi-random selection of 3-5 champs for each normal Lane/roll that all players on a team can pick from or provide 5-10 random champs for each individual player to pick from that they can only select that can cover at least 3 lanes/rolls.

What this achieves:

  1. It satisfies player agency in getting something that they at least feel somewhat comfortable with.
  2. It allows some team base cohesion
  3. It removes the ability for accounts to stack only the best champions
  4. It reduces the chances of getting totally garbage comps that just generally ruin the game mode.
  5. It should reduce the shear lopsidedness of games and bringing them inline with normal summon's rift games.

This to the best of my knowledge "should" alleviate a lot of the hate for the mode I have seen and make it overall more enjoyable. My number one issue with it is consistently either I completely stomp the enemy team or they completely annihilate me with the latter happening more often then not due to abysmal luck at the start of the game. This makes the mode frustrating and at times hopeless which goes against the goal of the game. I agree with their reasoning on doing ARurf over regular Urf. It gets kinda dumb seeing the same 5 to 10 champs every damn game. This is as close to middle ground as I can come up with allowing people to have the best of both worlds.
