Kalista is the new Quinn?

When Quinn was released as adc a lot of people played her bot adc (as one could normal do) but they realized that she is better toplaner that botlaner due to her kit and hability to self peel (E) and W (MS / AS steroid)

With Kalista kit i can see that she will be a strong toplaner due to her hability of repositioning. If the "soulbind" is permanente during the entire game it could be a good idea to bind it onto the jungler so when he comes gank he will gain more power :D and her ult is a mini version of Malphite ult.

I figure you could possibly play her top.

However, her W passive and R make her so much better if paired with someone consistently.

Also, 325 base MS is pretty bad, especially since her pouncing requires a target for consistent use - and she can't cancel auto animations, either.

I am more afraid of the wombo combo bot lanes: Leona who doesn't need E or R to go in? Alistar who can knock you up, then reposition you, then knock you up again? Thresh who can consistently use W's passive? Blitzcrank who doesn't need his hook for engage?

And now... It's time to play "How many nerfs until Kalista gets reworked!" Seriously, CertainlyT does not have a good track record for balancing champions. Someone made a thread about this earlier, and a couple examples they made:

Darius no longer gets Ultimate reset, instead gets a 20 second window that doesn't even tick with the cooldown, meaning that your dunk time may even eclipse that of a Garen ultimate.

Thresh Thresh I thought was a little harsh for him to null the ultimate damage completely on the second cast (maybe reducing the damage by like 50% would have been better?) But yeah, that happened.

Yasuo I know for a fact that this blowhard is going to get reworked. The QQs have been nonstop since he first came out, and it only got worse since people learned how to play him. Yasuo hasn't been buffed one time since his existence, and that's a major red flag.

Zed Doesn't have 3 clones on his ult anymore. Arguably going to be nerfed again due to his ban rate and the QQs.

Zyra Just not a viable mid laner anymore.

Kallista has unlimited kiting and skillshot juking potential, twin shadows that scream when they see champions, an unlimted stacking E (really? I can see this going well), and a fucking ult that launches tanks into your enemies as a Malphite ult. If Kalista isn't gutted by Lunar Revel next year, I'm going to be really surprised.

As strong as her repositioning mechanic is, I don't think it's enough mobility be able to safely lane top and avoid ganks. She has no actual gap closer or escape. Plus, she wouldn't be able to make use of the bonus damage from soulbind if both her and her soulbound ally attack the same champion.

you have to be in auto attack range for her passive to activate

this means she will struggle against any champion that can shit on her in the short time that she's in AA range. Her kit revolves around sustained damage and her E (like twitch). Anyone that can jump on you and burst you is going to make your life very difficult.

think: Ryze, Riven, Irelia, Xin Zhao, Jayce etc.

gone are the days of easily bullied tanky toplaners. if you want to play in top lane you have to be able to hold your own, and that means taking hits sometimes.

See, I think she'd be better as a sup, because imagine this, she has the vision control w/ her w, re-positioning to be able to secure kills that get away/initiate on a tank (potentially) w/ her basic attacks and rend, peel/initiate for 1 ally (any one really, top laner/tanky jg if shes a sup), all she needs is a item 3303 and she'll be golden.

Kalista + Teemo both with item 3085 is gonna be a hell of a lane.

Also Kamikaze Teemo+Shroom with Kalista Ultimate.
