With autofill what is the point of picking the two roles you WANT TO PLAY!?
I cannot play bottom lane at all, I dont like it, and im just awful at it, so why am i FORCED to dodge games or get flamed by teammates for not being able to play the role i was FORCED to play?
IvernTheTerrible10 votesI definitely agree. Autofill is pretty cancer. I've lost 100% of my autofill support games. It's so bad that I have a 30 min timer now on queue dodge. Still better than sitting through a 30 minute loss autofilled to support.
Oleandervine6 votesIf people stop dodging and more people are willing to play support, then Autofill will go. Until then, you have to deal with it. Hell, anyone who's played before 2015 didn't get their roles because role pick wasn't a thing when pick order determined where you played. They dealt with it, and enjoyed their games, unlike these whiny people who have a meltdown the moment they can't play top or mid.

It is almost unanimous that game quality has dropped due to the amount of offroling/autofilling going on. Is a 2 minute que time really worth it if you have a player who has no intention to support, so they build tank akali support? Personally, i dont think so. I will wait 10 minutes ANY DAY to have everyone get the roles they want.
Autofill is necessary in the highest of elos; like possibly Master/Challenger only, not even Diamond. But its just uneccessary D5 and below.

I love top n jungle they are my other main roles but good lord i hate mid.
Didn't help that in the past whenever i try to get mid in normals some player who was late to call mid just kicks me out of mid T_T and since alot of people hate playing support i tend to play it way too much.

Glory ln Death2 votesPlaying support gives you auto fill protection. If you're queued up for support, you literally cannot be auto filled.
The only way you don't get support is if it's taking too long to find a match, so you get your secondary. Which is unlikely with support as your primary.
So the only way you could be getting mid is if that's your secondary role.

50000000000000001 votesNo, I mean queueing and getting non-support roles. And as far as I know, I think autofill protection works independently from normal draft and ranked. Not sure about solo/duo vs flex, but I'd guess the same.
LEEROY KLEDKINS1 votesWell that's wierd honestly because most of my waiting times are 50 seconds to 1:30 and the game has the cheeky to put me mid.
I select support/jungle or support/top and one case i did pick support/fill.
It could be that if someone dodges a lobby the timer still goes on and that can result in me getting thrown into other roles i didn't request for.
I think the last thing i said is true but i cannot 100% confirm it since I've given up on ranked because of this feature it may sound pathetic i know but its not just me that has this problem its having to listen to others who have the same problem so i rather not do any damage to my team and just stay out of ranked until something happens.
Still a bit grumpy over some recent changes which doesn't really help.
I hope you and everyone does good this season but im gonna sit this one out.

I always do the duo/solo mode and I never get my best role.
Makes me want to blow my head clean off (not for real but good lord its annoying).

I know this won't solve the issue of autofill, but why can't people just learn how to support? If more people played support, it wouldn't be autofilled into as much.
Cowseed2 votesI don't like anything to do with bot. I do not like having to be carried nor do I like playing ranged champs. Anything bot kinda sucks for some people. And please don't give me the same excuse support mains give about 'being able to carry'.

This attitude is causing the mess in the first place. People are concerned with carrying, when it's much easier as a team effort. Granted, that's unrealistic in lower elos, but at least dabbling in the role would help.
Cowseed1 votesIn the support games I actually played in rank my win condition was basically to get a good adc. Not something I could really change in game. First time I played support I was playing lulu with a vayne adc. Kept over extending and I payed the price for that. Come mid game couldn't do anything. Second game got a Sivir adc. I got them a few kills they got cocky and started feeding. Third time I played annie. Our team snowballed really hard because we invaded and got two kills for 1 and first blood.
I bought a spellthief and that was the only support item I actually bought. I felt actually useful that game.
Chimp Joker2 votesI cant say that autofill is totally a bad idea. My only gripe with it is that it affects all plays of different ELOs. For Master and Challenger ranked players it does make a significant difference in their queue times. But why in the hell do we need it for platinum and below, especially bronze? A bronze wait time for me is about 1-3 minutes (depending on the role selected). All autofill did was shave off a minute of queue time for these ranked players, but shaved off a lot more for players of higher ELO.

Rengar Top Lane2 votesPlay a game of support and you are guaranteed your role for 2-3 games. Remember queueing for support a day ago and got my roles a few games with no autofills.
Umbral Regent1 votesAutofill is supposed to help fill in voids in team compositions first, and also try to broaden your horizons to other lanes as a secondary benefit. It sure as hell isn't made to force players to dodge, that's something you're doing voluntarily to avoid playing something else. I personally enjoy autofill, and having to dip into each role and get better at them. Sure, I may suck at them, but I don't care if other players are going to flame me when I know I need to get better, and am improving.

JRobin311 votesThe two role system was a flawed concept to begin with that never met the needs of the player base, but offered them the illusion of fulfilling their desires. It was doomed to failure from the beginning. It can never offer players the control over their role that Team Builder offered and it can never satisfy a solo queue that needs players to fill all the roles. Normal draft is supposed to be a close mimic to ranked queues so it can't be different in such a fundamental way. These are simple realities that you need to learn to embrace.
As for autofill, RIOT ought to drop autofill protection and give players the capability to customize their ALL their role preferences (not just the top two).

Trenitaliyah1 votesRecently started ranking for season 7. Played with autofill on, luckily got my first role, always. I'm honest, if I got anything else of the 2 roles picked, I'd be very mad and probably tilted. I'd probably go feed.
