Ghostcrawler kind of hinted at Thresh being OP.
In the sense that they have no real weaknesses. Which I agree.
Strong pickrate and winrate.
But what can be done?
I just say make them melee or reduce their attack range even more.

Thresh is definitely strong, and he has very clear skill expression, so overall it's understandable as to why he's such a popular champion. But, he also has counter play. If he's unable to land his Q or a flay, he and his teammates can be in a lot of trouble until they come off cool down. Overall, he's a CC heavy tank, which is what Riot intended for him to be. And as far as nerfs go, they could nerf the passive damage from flay, but in the end I highly doubt Riot will change him around too much. Janna on the other hand is what I'd call a broken support, because her kit is just too overloaded. She's perfect for quite literally every scenario really.
He's not OP, he's just a generalist.
Jack of all trades master at none, and for a support thats pretty damn good.
While some champions have strict identities, like blitzcrank's hook, tahm's save, janna's shields, alistar's tankiness, etc etc
Thresh has a little bit of everything:
Additionally he's a playmaker support with skill expression so without a doubt a good thresh can solo carry a game off of the plays he makes. You can't really take that away from him either. Any time a support is seen as a playmaker or has skill expression, it gets a little bit of eyebrows raised at it... especially in a meta where autofill exist (a thresh/support main vs. an autofill, winrate is going to look higher then usual off of the skill expression in the lane.)
Items could play a part in why thresh is better than usual however. Additionally junglers are ganking more frequently and thresh hook's make those ganks even stronger, there's a lot of game factors involved in impacting thresh rather than thresh himself.
They're only not good at engage and poke, but make up for it with sticking power.
Just a couple small corrections/fun facts
Last I checked, Thresh hook actually can pull over walls technically, it's just they practically have to be hugging some of the thinnest walls in the game. the river wall that leads to gromp comes to mind.
Also (I haven't confirmed this personally, but from what I've heard) if someone tries to bodyblock the lantern, if you zoom the camera in on it it becomes clickable again.
If hard to play champs are strong I think it's ok
