Graves Smoke Screen: Making it feel Stronger and give more Utility

I love playing Graves Graves, because I personally love his kit and character. However there is one glaring flaw with him. While his Smoke Screen is decent, it doesn't feel good to use.

You don't feel like the opponent is blind, and that they have just a mild annoyance to deal with. Let's rework it to make it feel like a smokescreen, something to engage with, but have defensive purposes. Disclaimer, I'm not an expert in balance. So please take these as suggestions, and I really want to ask you for your own personal opinion, so I can make changes accordingly.

(Change 1: Deals No Damage, but more Utility) I don't think the Smoke Screen should deal any damage. It deals so minor damage, so it doesn't feel good to use. The point isn't to throw it out at the enemy to whittle them down, it is supposed to be strategic.


(Change 2: Hitting the enemy directly with the Smoke Screen will cause a small Stun) I really like how Graves is presented in New Dawn, and when he hit Draven with his Smoke Screen. It makes it feel like it has weight. Something that is missing in game. Making it have a small stun gives Graves a small window to dash in, attack, and get out.


(Change 3: Defensive Use) The thing about Smoke Screen is that there is never a reason to use it on yourself or allies, so here is my idea. Friendlies inside the Smoke Screen are invisible until they move outside the Smoke Screen or Attack, if an enemy is inside the Smoke Screen the invisibility will not happen. When you or an ally is about to get killed, throw this on yourself or the teammate to potentially save them.


(Change 4: Scaling Radius Increase) I think raising the radius of the Smoke Screen over the course of the game is a nice idea. It could be 250/260/270/280/290/300 or 250/255/260/265/270/275. Either one would do it.


Obviously this ideas are completely brainstorming, and are most likely pretty bad and OP. However maybe you can take away some of the changes and keep others. That is why I put this thread here, to receive feedback.

What if, instead of the radius increasing with level, it increased with time? You shoot it out, it pops at radius x. it lasts 3 seconds? so at 1 second, it's radius has grown to 1.25x, and at 2 seconds it's 1.75x, and right before it dissipates it gets to 2-2.5x. this makes it dynamic. You can't just sidestep it and not worry anymore, you have to keep moving or it will envelope you. And if that's the case, probably get rid of the damage, as you say.

how about range reduction lets say that ranged champs inside of smoke screen have their range reduced by some % howewer might be too op
still i would like this to realy make enemies unable to see
