Was Teemo Initially designed to be a "Support"?

I was on a Boards Discussion about a few off Meta Supports, someone mentioned "Hybrid support" So I Put Kayle and Teemo and as a joke, Jax.

To my surprise, I had gotten this response. (Not posting names because I don't quite have their permission)

Teemo and Kayle were both designed for the support role. Consequently, they can both fulfill its functions. They just don't do so quite as well as your more standard supports. Of fun note, Maokai was also designed to be a support. And I'll play him down there every now and then and do rather ok.

I have ben called Troll sooo many times for taking Teemo as a Support, but in reality, im taking him to his Original Role... (Right beside Tristana AHAHAHAH jk jk!)

I know not many people or Teemo mains would agree with me, but I have been seeing Teemo Rework Board going up left and Right now.

#Perhaps it's time the little furball made his way out of Top lane? Perhaps more into Jungle/Support?
