When The Shot Caller Has Absolute Power

What do you think about shotcallers who have absolute power?

Sometimes I make a suggestion to my team, and a couple teammates shut me down automatically, saying that it's not what the shotcaller said. What if I think the shotcaller is wrong sometimes and I want to speak up? Can't my team give me 3 seconds to explain? I know sometimes we don't have that much time, but, in a lot of cases, there was plenty of time to just explain why we were doing something/explain my thought.

Is it best just to do everything the shotcaller says, even when some of the calls are bad? The shotcaller is consistently good, actually, but I hate being shut down like that.

EDIT: Maybe I shouldn't have written "boyfriend" in there. X) There are a couple other guys who do that too. And thank you for your responses!

I'm so sick of the 10/0 teammate calling for Baron when all five of the enemy team are alive, and we get aced in the pit.

Damn right I'm going to speak up if I disagree.

I've heard it said that "everyone following a bad call is better than only a few people following calls or nobody at all".

No. Trust your instincts please.

That kind of mindless behavior gets your team aced. It's way better if 2 or 3 of you feed instead of the whole team. I'm so tired of these so called "shot callers" worshiping baron and dragon, especially if the enemy team is out and about. Like no, I don't want to share a grave on the rift with you. If you think an objective is going to get your team killed, raise that issue with your team please. I've been strong armed so many times, only to end up dying or losing my lead because someone is going to chew me out if I don't follow their orders.

You should always hear your teammates out, but never mindlessly follow them because they have a good KDA. That's how people throw games.

Ouch, I feel you, it sucks being shut down like that. even if in the end your call wasn't what the team did, they should have at least heard you out (sense you said you clearly had the time) maybe even quickly explain to you why the call you made wasn't as good as the shot callers call.

Just hearing the person out lets them know that their opinions matter. Which may make the person play better. cause being shut down right away would totally cause the person to play just a little bit worse. Now if it was a split-second call where every second counted, i completely understand being shut down right away. A team that acts together is stronger than one that stands divided, Even if doing the wrong call, which i guess why shot callers exist when they make a call everyone knows to go to that instead of doing their own thing. i don't see why the shot-caller couldn't hear your suggestion out really quick.

Now after the game, i would discuss with the shot-caller why the shots they made were better than the one you suggested. maybe after the convo, the shot-caller may realize they were wrong, and improve. and if the shot-caller was right, well now you know why it was the proper call and wont suggest the wrong call next time :)

In the end, i think everyone should hear everyone out and discuss whats the best thing to do, esp if y'all are just walking down the lane anyway lol

and wow i type too much 0_o lol.

The real problem here is that your BOYFRIEND is the one shutting you down.

Also, you might want to rethink your love life. Your boyfriend sounds like a dickhead.

If you're playing to win you should realize most people get caught up in the moment and might not be being as critical of you as it might seem. Maybe tell him outside of the game that him being abrasive hurts your feelings, but if you're just being butthurt over him telling you you're wrong then you should probably just chill.

If you can't explain why the play is bad in a few short seconds then it's probably for the best you listen to whoever you designate as the shotcaller. You could always try to start paying as much attention you can to all lanes while you're playing to become a better shotcaller than you have now. WHAT ARE THEY GONNA DO WHEN YOU HAVE THE TALKING PILLOW?!

I think it depends on the dynamic of the team. If the shotcaller establishes a protocol where he/she is the only voice, well then that is what goes. If however, other people are talking and being heard but your boyfriend shuts you down, well then as others have said there needs to be a reality check here and if he does this in league, he will likely do this in regular life which is to say not give you the respect of an equal partner. It may be a stretch to say that, but that is my observation. League can bring the worst out in people.

That being said, I am the shotcaller for my 5s team (currently P3) and sometimes I make a call that others disagree with. I'll listen to them and consider their feedback because I am the type that loves data and can amend a decision when needed. However if I make an absolute call (so and so back off right now, or head to dragon right now), then I expect them to follow it. If they don't, we can't have a real team mechanic and take objectives clearly.

So all that to say if the team dynamic allows for feedback in a game, there is no reason your boyfriend should shut you down like that and I would confront him about it. If he acts like a douche, then drop him like he's got rabies because in reality, he just might.

Your boyfriend sounds like a bronzie trying to impress either a friend or a stranger over the internet. If the shotcaller is making a dumb decision and you aren't pro, tell him he's an idiot and to "gitGudNoob" and that inhibitor is more important than that dragon when their entire team is down or that we can do baron AFTER we kill someone.

What the fuck is a shotcaller? Is that in team ranked? I only play Yolo Q.
