Silence on mobile champions is a zero risk all reward. Also known as no counterplay

BlackEyesBlue9/29/2015, 5:42:27 PM2 votes

Let me make this clear....

NO CHAMPION!!!!; who can flash onto you, Or pull you in Blitzcrank's case, and do huge burst damage should get a tool that takes away ALL ability to react!

Silence, even more then stealth is the one aspect Riot has constantly gotten wrong! Malzahar and Chogath are the only two champs with "healthy" silences in the game ATM. Why?, Because they have little mobility and getting silenced by them ISEN'T a death sentence in a 1 v 1 situation.

Silence belongs on utility champions or peel moves, NOT Assassins!

EDIT: Oh ya, Soraka is a good example of healthy silence too. :P

Funny how the bandwagon only stops when they gut assassins, yet other "game winning" champions are ignored.

LeBlanc literally ate 3 patches of nerfs in a row before people declared her unplayable, and people STILL whine just because they are lazy in lane and die.

Neither Talon nor Kassadin need them

Ralanr9/29/2015, 6:37:48 PM1 votes

Actually removing them might be a reasonable idea. How many champions use silences anyway?

Yes. And it isn't the Silence's fault*, it's his ult and damage combo.

  • His Silence could stand to have its duration reduced however, but he has lots of other issues.

I do think we need more silences in the game, but assassins aren't the healthiest champs to put them on.

This has to be a troll thread, but I guess I'm going to bite.

The whole point of assassins is high risk, high reward. The silence never made sense on these champs because it made their trades and all-ins low risk, high reward. It gave them great laning potential with pretty much free trades because almost all of them could jump in, silence you, chunk you down, and retreat back to safety before the silence was over and you could trade back. It made their all-ins completely free because there was nothing you could do besides try to walk away from a champion with extremely high mobility that has roots or slows.

As far as Malz goes, hes a high risk champion all game. He has zero mobility and his ult has counters. He can't jump into your face while you're silenced and retreat back for free. Yes, he is very strong in a 1v1 scenario, that is true. But the truth is most people forget that Malz is also suppressed for the duration of his ult. In a team fight scenario, he is a squishy mage that is stuck in place for 2.5 seconds. He is as high risk of having his ult canceled by any form of hard CC and getting blown up. His entire kit is made completely useless by a item 3140 as well. Before you say it, yes I know it doesn't make sense for an AP mid to build a sash. But the likelyhood of Malz getting his ult off onto your AP mid in the back line is very low in a team fight. Even if the ADC and one other person on the team gets a QSS, Malz's options become super limited. He's either going to be forced to ult a tank or risk being an immobile mage trying to dive the back line. He doesnt have the same escape mechanics or safety of a Zed, Kass, or LB. This is Malz's trade off. This is his risk vs reward

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Comparing Malz's skill shot to Leblanc, Kassadin, and Talon's 100% reliable - without skill - targeted silence, is dumb. The problem with, mostly Kassadin is, the knee capping they gave him after his rework buffs. Leblanc was getting toxic again too, so they nerfed her damage. The silence on these characters was a death sentence before the game started. 0 counter play, no matter how you want to put it.

This thread is beyond bad..

Ralanr9/29/2015, 5:33:07 PM1 votes

No, Yes, Yes, No.

Zed does not need a silence, he needs more opponents who can silence him.

Kat Head9/30/2015, 6:05:58 PM1 votes

The assassin role needs buffed as a whole, but bringing back the silence is bad idea.

insaiyanbacca9/29/2015, 5:38:41 PM1 votes

talon and leblanc are both fine without, tho i think talon's E should interupt channel's but having it silence no, as for leblanc she doesnt need it and never needed it, kassadin i'd say he probably needs it since hes supposed to be the "anti-mage assassin"

TeemoJenkins9/29/2015, 5:38:42 PM1 votes

Read and downvoted. The silences for all these champs were removed because of their insane mobility where they could pounce in, pop half your life, and then bounce back out and you were silenced so no ability to response.
