So, about Thresh and Relic Shield

Can I get an explanation on why Thresh cant proc Spoils of War with his aa? I understand that it's limited to melee champions, but considering the fact that it IS the recommended starting item for him, and that his attacks are somewhat in between a melee and a ranged auto - I would expect it to function the same as it does with any other melee support. I'm used to playing mages and having a hard time csing with autos, but trying to kill a creep in between other players attacking it while having damage this low is a lot more hard and ends up being extremely frustrating. I find myself losing so much cs to myself and the adc because of it. I just cant use the item as effectively with him. It wouldn't be a major game-changing buff for him, and would just make it less frustrating to play with Relic. So why the heck not?

Because his Autoattack gets the passive from item 3085

From what I understand, if they give a tresh a close range auto attack it would do some fun things with other low range items.

item 3742 item 3074 item 3748

You need to wait for your E to charge up. It makes last hitting much easier. But yes, they could make it work with him as an exception. They did something similar for Jhin and single target damage (so he can use Deathfire Touch if he wants to).

E passive. He's one of the rare ranged support champions to have an empowered AA passive, so he's fit to build Relic Shield.

Thresh has ranged basic attacks. He can't get the melee execute. The reason why it is recommend is because Thresh engages like a tank, so getting HP is very very nice and wanted and desired and required to have with him.
