Does rank affect toxicity? Can I hope to meet better people in diamond\challenger?

I've been playing league for about 3 years or so, and never felt the need to go ranked up until the current season. I just like having fun and have a casual competitive environment, and my friends told me the higher ranked games are more serious, plus not as toxic - so I thought why not. :3 So I was placed in gold 5 like 2 months ago, and am currently at plat 2, still steadily climbing. In every single one of my past 4 games I had a person rage quitting, calling people animals, dogs, cancer, idiots, autistics etc. This is so extreme I'm amazed these people even reached this rank, meaning they played enough games to reach it w/o getting banned on the way. I'm aware of the mute button, and I find myself using it every single game, just wondering whether ill always have to.

And now, to my question - is there a rank where you don't get to meet as many ragers and flamers? Will this get better if I reach diamond? challenger? when does it stop? v.v

I've heard the most intensely toxic area is high plat and low diamond. Mostly due to the majority of people there thinking they deserve to be higher and have nothing else to learn.

Currently high plat here too, can attest that this area is pretty toxic.

I hear the toxicity continues. Some people say worse.

But I don't have first-hand experience. I think the overall is, toxicity exists at all levels.

There are toxic players in esports. No where is safe.

Toxic players exist at all points. However, I think that being higher elo is indeed correlated with players realizing that they should focus on their own responsibility to contribute to their team's win, instead of blaming the team and looking for excuses as to why they can't win. I think players get less toxic as you go up, having played in both high and low elo on multiple regions.

On the other hand, players in higher elo may be playing the game more obsessively, and may sometimes lose their temper after an unavoidable losing streak, when they've become tilted. Still, my impression is that players become less toxic and more focused on self-improvement as you climb up.

Im in silver and it is the worst I have seen in 3 seasons. Every game someone who flames/afk quits/or trolls. Not sure how but Rito really needs to do something about it or they are going to see a rapid drop in ranked match players. I'm about to quit ranked for the rest of the season its so bad.
