Why Queue dodging is worth it in the long run
I would like to start off this discussion by saying that I understand that people have weird off meta picks, and I feel sorry for them that they have to go through longer wait times before starting a game. That being said, my goal in League of Legends is to climb the ranked ladder. If I see you pick Fiddlesticks top, and I go to op.gg and you aren't a Fiddlesticks one trick, I'm going to dodge, especially after you just whined in champ select about not wanting to play top.
Now the reason dodging is worth is because all that a dodge will incur on you is a 3-5 LP loss and a 5 minute or 30 minute timeout from ranked. However, you do not incur an MMR penalty. This means that I will dodge even if I'm in promos. I don't know if I believe the boards 100% when they say that promos are rigged against them, but if that's the case, it will benefit you greatly to intentionally dodge your promos and continue to try to win games outside promos. For example, I'm plat 5 now, and if I go on a losing streak I'm in serious danger of tanking my MMR into high to mid gold. I would much rather stay in plat 5 while climbing to mid plat MMR, because once I do complete a promotion series, there is a possibility of skipping a division.
So remember, next time you see a champ select troll or people are already being toxic in pregame chat, dodging is the best solution in the long term if you care about climbing.
EDIT: Apparently dodging will result in an MMR penalty if done more than once in a certain time period, ty THR34T
