HOW DO I WIN RANKED GAMES

ŻzZoe·5/21/2015, 2:40:30 PM·1 votes·1,099 views

PLEASE HELP ME i keep losing ranked games because i only get useless team mates. literally.

i dropped to silver 1 because of this and now it just goes on, no matter how well i do, my team mates make up for it by playing really really bad. (i mean ofc i sometimes mess up too etc. like in that game just now where i played lissandra (which i literally never play) and lost to zed, but i'm pretty sure if my j4 would've been better (i'm not complaining about "no ganks" but literally the only thing he did in mid was die.) zed wouldn't have snowballed THAT hard etc.)

i mean just now i had a game that was 0/18 at some point becuase my team mates just kept dying (my score was 0/0/0 at that time)

HOW am i gonna get out of this.. HOW. And the worst thing is, i lose 20+ LP for a lost game but only gain 10+ for a win... HOW DOES IT MAKE SENSE TO LOSE WAY MORE, EVENTHOUGH YOU WERE THE ONLY ONE WHO DID WELL (aka only lost because of your team) srsly. i'm just sick of this.

(and no, i'm not flaming them or anything. i just stay quiet, try to do my best while crying out of frustration)

step 1: stop blaming your team step 2: take breaks if you go on tilt step 3: collect elo

...

step 4: stop blaming your team

I swear, most people on these boards who blame their team for their losses are like bronze 3s who have terrible builds, poor mechanics and have never had a positive KDA in their entire time playing league.

  1. Don't take champions that you "hardly" play into ranked regardless of anything said.

  2. If you lose more than you gain it is because the system thinks you belong lower than you are currently placed.

I know it sounds cliche, but focus on your own gameplay. Watch some replays of your games and see what mistakes YOU made. What could YOU have been doing while your botlane was getting stomped. Could you have roamed? Did you push a wave into turret while your laner was roaming and then recall? What did you do to take your tower? Were you too passive? Were you too aggressive? Analyzing your games will help you climb. I did it last season and I improved my gameplay a ton, to the point it mattered less what my teammates did and more on how I reacted to them as well as the enemy team.

To get demoted from Gold V to Silver I, or any V-I demotion for that matter, your MMR has to be much, much lower than your placement. Your LP gains/losses reflect this. I'm sorry to be that guy, but the system doesn't think you deserve Gold.

How to get out of this though? Here are some soloq tricks/tips:

  1. Feeders, trolls, AFKs, happen. Deal with it. They'll be in more games than you want, but less games than you think. The more you get, the more you'll expect to get. When really, it's a small percentage of your games.
  2. Play selfishly... to a point. There's one constant in every game you play, you. Play so you're relevant, then allow the team to get ahead. Even if you jungle, unless you have a comp with carries you need to get fed ASAP, get yourself ahead first.
  3. Take breaks on losing sprees. Shit happens, take a break before you tilt harder.
  4. Blame yourself, not your teammates. You said it yourself, no one's perfect. But you're the constant in your games, they aren't. If you're too hung up on their mistakes, you're not improving.
  5. Comfort picks. Unless you're super hard countered, it's better to play a lane where you might have a slight disadvantage, then attempt to counter pick with a champion you rarely play.
  6. You'll never win, if you believe you'll never win. Complaining about bad games puts you in a bad mindset, it puts you on tilt. You essentially trick yourself into losing.
  7. Salt loses games. Period. Ok, I'm exaggerating. Salty players do win sometimes. But it's not needed, promotes toxicity, and discourages team trust. If anyone on the team gets mad at another player, you might as well be playing 4v6.
  8. If you deserve Gold, you'll get it back. Ranked is a time commitment more than anything. Your MMR/placement will balance. Unfortunately, you may be there already, back in SI. Or maybe not. If you're good enough to get back to Gold, you will.

This game's ranked system is determined 99% by who gets the bigger troll. Since rito punishes nothing except "but he said bad ward", and has no desire to make ranked actually competitive, there is nothing you can do except hope to get lucky more times than not.

You have two options:

  1. Carry all these trolls, feeders, AFKs, baddies, etc. to victory
  2. Accept your fate from the Elo gods and end up in Bronze

Choose wisely.

I decided I'd look at your recent games so I could offer real advice.

  1. you play too many different champions in ranked play. According to one count in your 51 ranked games you have played 18 different champions, which averages to 3 games per champion. One thing that is very true is that more games on a champion helps you learn all about the champion and to win games. Narrow your champ selection pool in ranked to 5-6 champions and practice those champions a lot.

  2. You play too many different positions in ranked. When I looked at your top 10 played ranked champs I found

Gnar - Top Heimer - Mid Azir - mid Vi - jungle Amumu - jungle WuKong - top Sejuani - jungle Jinx - ADC Braum - support Lulu - Support/top

Again, you get better by mastering one thing/role first. Choose one primary and no more than 2 backup roles and try to always play those.

  1. Your farming is questionable at best. It's not easy to gauge farming as a jungler, but the best I saw was 5.3 CS/Min and you've been below 4.5 far too often. Look at it this way, a wave of 6 creeps is released every 30 seconds and at the start represents 105 gold (3 melee at 20 G each and 3 caster at 15 G each). that means a lane sees a minimum of 12 creeps a minute representing 210 gold. (I'm not counting the siege/cannon creeps which appear every 3rd wave and are worth 40+ gold) But that means that if you are only getting 4 CS/minute you are probably averaging only about 70 g/minute over the base rate you get every second. That means at 10 minutes you probably only have about 700 gold from killing minions. Someone who's averaging 6 CS/Minute is 300 or more gold ahead of you. (probably about 20 CS ahead at this point.) It adds up and means that unless a game extends past 45 minutes you are going to be behind for most of the game.

In other words, you need to last hit a lot better.

  1. Despite your claim of "not feeding" you die too much in your ranked games. You average 6.5 deaths per match. You need to get that down below 5 if possible.

  2. You don't seem to team fight well either. Your overall KDA is only 1.86 in your last 20 ranked matches, which is far too low. I've found that when my KDA is above 3 my teams win 75% of the time or more. Now this isn't just by getting more kills. Assists also matter. Your C/Kill (Contribution for kill computed by euw.op.gg) is only 44%. That means you either got the kill or assisted on less than have of the kills your team got. That would be understandable for a top laner like a Nasus who might never leave the lane, but the other positions could be team fighting and that means multiple assists get handed out. Its also a lot easier for a team to win a fight where they have a 4-3 or 4-2 advantage in numbers. You can't just say "I didn't lose" you need to help the rest of your team win their fights.

And finally, don't worry about the play of your teammates. When you do that you don't play as well as you could. I've learned that the hard way. I went on tilt a while ago and couldn't win in ranked or normal and a huge part of that was I started trying way too hard to carry. I stopped worrying about the play of others and just played my game and tried to help teammates. I've seen a huge improvement all around, but especially on Sona who I have pretty much chosen to main in ranked for now. I went through a period where I went 0/9 and never had a KDA above 2.75 on her. However, since then I'm 6/0 with a minimum KDA of 6.60 and a minimum C/Kill of 54%. It's just little things, but where I was barely going 0/6/14 during the losing streak I'm getting scores like 3/3/28 and having someone on the opposing team say "My team needs to focus Sona in teamfights." (true statement in my last game as Sona 2 players on the opposing team said that, one said it during the game and one said it afterwards in explaining why the support had abandoned the lane - the ADC wanted to focus me, but the support feared my ADC more.)

Kills and deaths don't mean anything, a feeder could still be contributing more than your 0 deaths.

so the team i had just now (a fizz who went 0/5 against xerath which lead to pantheon flaming him and then troll and feed on purpose which lead to a fed xerath and jinx) is NOT the reason i lost and i who did "alright" in lane despite getting babysit on (they had nasus) is?

so i deserve to lose -19LP now becuase i couldn't prevent a fizz and pantheon to feed?

i really don't know how that's any fair. ofc the system won't think "i deserve" to be gold when at some point in game i just get one shot by literally everyone after my team has fed them to hell.

how, just how should i win games when i literally only get teams like THIS. HOW. HOW DOES IT MAKE SENSE. HOW IS IT FAIR.

alright i didn't "win" my lane but at least i didn't feed nasus, prevented him from getting tons of stacks AND didn't LOSE my lane. but at the end of the day even if i would've won my lane and gotten fed as hell i wouldn't be able to solo carry a 1vs5 game against a fed xerath and jinx. especially since they didn't do anything constructive either (like getting towers or dragons..in fact they didn't do anything but farm and feed) and ofc bot lane wasn't happy about that either so guess what, they started flaming (which usually leads to worse gameplay and well.. obvisouly they kept dying too.. and not like they would be able to do much now that jinx was far ahead)

this is just ridiculous.

you cant in this meta you either get the lucky team comp or chogath or you lose, i get ad malphite jungle and troll shit like that

Changsty5/21/2015, 5:34:27 PM1 votes

Go take a look at your own match history. You really aren't carrying as hard as you think. In fact you feed in about 60-70% of your games.
